Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,

And David with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their ordering in their service.

For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward.For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God;for the showbread also, and for the fine flour for a meal- offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all manner of measure and size;and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even;and to offer all burnt- offerings unto Jehovah, on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Jehovah;and that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, for the service of the house of Jehovah.

Bless Jehovah, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits:

And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.

And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for thou hast striven with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

O give thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; Make known his doings among the peoples.

And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who spake with his mouth unto David thy father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.Of these, twenty and four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges;and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

And Jehovah said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy fathers’ house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.And thy brethren also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou near with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall be before the tent of the testimony.And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the Tent: only they shall not come nigh unto the vessels of the sanctuary and unto the altar, that they die not, neither they, nor ye.And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tent of meeting, for all the service of the Tent: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar; that there be wrath no more upon the children of Israel.And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are a gift, given unto Jehovah, to do the service of the tent of meeting.

Make haste, O God, to deliver me; Make haste to help me, O Jehovah.

Fret not thyself because of evil- doers, Neither be thou envious against them that work unrighteousness.

And he erected there an altar, and called it El- Elohe- Israel.

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that are Jehovah’s remembrancers, take ye no rest,and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
