So he left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required,and Obed edom with his sixty eight relatives; Obed edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah as gatekeepers.He left Zadok the priest and his relatives the priests before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place which was at Gibeon,to offer burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to everything that is written in the Law of the Lord, which He commanded Israel.With them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because His kindness is everlasting.And with them were Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those who were to play them, and with instruments for the songs of God, and the sons of Jeduthun for the gate.

Remember His wonders which He has done, His marvels and the judgments spoken by His mouth,

David, with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their offices for their ministry.

For by the last words of David, the sons of Levi were counted from twenty years old and upward.For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord, in the courtyards and in the chambers, and in the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,and with the showbread, and the fine flour for a grain offering, and unleavened wafers, or what is baked in the pan or what is well mixed, and all measures of volume and size.They are to stand every morning to thank and to praise the Lord, and likewise at evening,and to offer all burnt offerings to the Lord, on the Sabbaths, the new moons and the appointed festivals, in the number determined by the ordinance concerning them, continually before the Lord.So they are to perform the duties of the tent of meeting, the holy place, and of assisting the sons of Aaron their relatives, for the service of the house of the Lord.

Bless the Lord, my soul, And do not forget any of His benefits;

Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders.

Then David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their relatives as the singers, with musical instruments, harps, lyres, and cymbals, playing to raise sounds of joy.

Then he said,“ Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have contended with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make His deeds known among the peoples.

He said,“ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David, and fulfilled it with His hands, saying,

And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel with the priests and the Levites.Now the Levites were counted from thirty years old and upward, and their number by head count of men was thirty eight thousand.Of these, twenty four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges,and four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were praising the Lord with the instruments which David made for giving praise.David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

So the Lord said to Aaron,“ You, your sons, and your father’s household with you shall bear the guilt in connection with the sanctuary, and you and your sons with you shall bear the guilt in connection with your priesthood.But also bring your brothers with you, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, so that they may join you and serve you, while you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony.And they shall perform duties for you and the duties of the whole tent, but they shall not come near the furnishings of the sanctuary and the altar, or both they and you will die.They shall join you and perform the duties of the tent of meeting, for all the service of the tent; but an unauthorized person shall not come near you.So you shall perform the duties of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, so that there will no longer be wrath on the sons of Israel.Behold, I Myself have taken your fellow Levites from among the sons of Israel; they are a gift to you, dedicated to the Lord, to perform the service for the tent of meeting.

God, hurry to save me; Lord, hurry to help me!

Do not get upset because of evildoers, Do not be envious of wrongdoers.

Then he erected there an altar and called it El Elohe Israel.

On your walls, Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who profess the Lord, take no rest for yourselves;And give Him no rest until He establishes And makes Jerusalem an object of praise on the earth.
