The Lord will rescue me from every evil work and will bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever! Amen.

Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same kind of sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.

But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

In struggling against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.What, then, are we to say about these things? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.

Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times that it would leave me.But he said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and in difficulties, for the sake of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

For I know the plans I have for you”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

He who calls you is faithful; he will do it.

“ Why are you sleeping?” he asked them.“ Get up and pray, so that you won’t fall into temptation.”

If the God we serve exists, then he can rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he can rescue us from the power of you, the king.

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand.My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.I and the Father are one.”

Brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience.See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and have seen the outcome that the Lord brought about— the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

Know that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps his gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commands.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and he will deliver us. We have put our hope in him that he will deliver us again

Because you have kept my command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will experience affliction for ten days. Be faithful to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness!

This saying is trustworthy: For if we died with him, we will also live with him;if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us;if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.

By faith even Sarah herself, when she was unable to have children, received power to conceive offspring, even though she was past the age, since she considered that the one who had promised was faithful.

God is faithful; you were called by him into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

So then, let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator while doing what is good.

But those days will be cut short because of the elect.“ If anyone tells you then,‘ See, here is the Messiah!’ or,‘ Over here!’ do not believe it.For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you. I will praise your name, for you have accomplished wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.

You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trialsso that the proven character of your faith— more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire— may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Look, this town is close enough for me to flee to. It is a small place. Please let me run to it— it’s only a small place, isn’t it?— so that I can survive.”And he said to him,“ All right, I’ll grant your request about this matter too and will not demolish the town you mentioned.

The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, so that the righteous will not apply their hands to injustice.

If you have raced with runners and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in a peaceful land, what will you do in the thickets of the Jordan?

Righteousness will be a belt around his hips; faithfulness will be a belt around his waist.

so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us.

And I have promised you that I will bring you up from the misery of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, Hethites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites— a land flowing with milk and honey.

Are they servants of Christ? I’m talking like a madman— I’m a better one: with far more labors, many more imprisonments, far worse beatings, many times near death.Five times I received the forty lashes minus one from the Jews.Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I received a stoning. Three times I was shipwrecked. I have spent a night and a day in the open sea.On frequent journeys, I faced dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my own people, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, and dangers among false brothers;toil and hardship, many sleepless nights, hunger and thirst, often without food, cold, and without clothing.Not to mention other things, there is the daily pressure on me: my concern for all the churches.

We have escaped like a bird from the hunter’s net; the net is torn, and we have escaped.

Women received their dead, raised to life again. Other people were tortured, not accepting release, so that they might gain a better resurrection.Others experienced mockings and scourgings, as well as bonds and imprisonment.They were stoned, they were sawed in two, they died by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, destitute, afflicted, and mistreated.The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and on mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.

This is what the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people, to a servant of rulers:“ Kings will see, princes will stand up, and they will all bow down because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel— and he has chosen you.”

“ Simon, Simon, look out. Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

The rest were to follow, some on planks and some on debris from the ship. In this way, everyone safely reached the shore.

But I will not withdraw my faithful love from him or betray my faithfulness.

Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and with justice he judges and makes war.

Besides all this, a great chasm has been fixed between us and you, so that those who want to pass over from here to you cannot; neither can those from there cross over to us.’

And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone in debt to us. And do not bring us into temptation.”

I will take you to be my wife in faithfulness, and you will know the LORD.

LORD, your faithful love reaches to heaven, your faithfulness to the clouds.
