In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying,“ This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

饭后，祂又举起杯来，说：“这杯是用我的血立的新约，这血是为你们流的。

因此，祂是新约的中保，借着死亡救赎了触犯旧约的人，好叫那些蒙召的人得到所应许的永恒基业。凡是遗嘱，必须等到立遗嘱的人死了以后才能生效。如果立遗嘱的人依然健在，遗嘱就不能生效。正因如此，连立旧约也需要用血才能生效。摩西依照律法向犹太人颁布所有诫命之后，便用红色的羊毛和牛膝草蘸了牛犊和山羊的血以及水，洒在律法书和百姓身上，说：“这是上帝用来与你们立约的血。”

愿赐平安的上帝，就是那位凭着立永恒之约的血使群羊的大牧人——我主耶稣从死里复活的上帝，

祂使我们能够担任新约的执事。这新约不是用律法条文立的，而是圣灵的工作，因为律法条文带给人死亡，但圣灵赐给人生命。

领圣餐时，我们为那福杯献上感谢，这不表示我们有份于基督的血吗？我们吃掰开的饼，这不表示我们有份于基督的身体吗？

但以色列人的心刚硬，直到今日，他们每逢读旧约的时候，同样的帕子还在那里，没有揭去。因为只有在基督里，那帕子才能被除去。

因此，无论是谁，若以不正确的心态吃主的饼、喝主的杯，就是得罪主的身体和主的血。所以，人要先自我省察，才可以吃这饼喝这杯。
