Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials— gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.

Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts;

ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Let no man rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he hath seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,and not holding fast the Head, from whom all the body, being supplied and knit together through the joints and bands, increaseth with the increase of God.If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances,Handle not, nor taste, nor touch( all which things are to perish with the using), after the precepts and doctrines of men?Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will- worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but are not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.

O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.And I will make thy pinnacles of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy border of precious stones.And all thy children shall be taught of Jehovah; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich; and white garments, that thou mayest clothe thyself, and that the shame of thy nakedness be not made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see.

And the building of the wall thereof was jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto pure glass.

The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? saith Jehovah.

and from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

but shun foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strifes, and fightings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.A factious man after a first and second admonition refuse;knowing that such a one is perverted, and sinneth, being self- condemned.

But evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:

Add thou not unto his words, Lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God because of your tradition.Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as their doctrines the precepts of men.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb.

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.

But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there some that hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

Receive my instruction, and not silver; And knowledge rather than choice gold.

If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed until now:but refuse profane and old wives’ fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them that are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which ye learned: and turn away from them.

Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some unto honor, and some unto dishonor.

But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict the gainsayers.For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision,whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

For we are not as the many, corrupting the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.

For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron. I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.

The law of thy mouth is better unto me Than thousands of gold and silver.
