吾之所以不惜以自己及亞波羅為例、而為此諄諄告誡者、乃為兄弟之益也。務望爾等以吾儕為則、謹守經訓、不可驕矜自慢、而抱出奴入主之態度。

Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying,“ Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.

Brothers and sisters, I have used myself and Apollos as examples to help you. You can learn from us the meaning of the saying,“ Don’t go beyond what is written.” Then you won’t be proud that you follow one of us instead of the other.

I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.

Dear brothers and sisters, I have used Apollos and myself to illustrate what I’ve been saying. If you pay attention to what I have quoted from the Scriptures, you won’t be proud of one of your leaders at the expense of another.

Now these things, brothers and sisters, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos on your account, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other.

Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant,

What I am saying is this: One of you says,“ I belong to Paul,” or“ I belong to Apollos,” or“ I belong to Cephas,” or“ I belong to Christ.”

For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit, which you had not received, or a different gospel, which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly!

Indeed, everything is for your benefit so that, as grace extends through more and more people, it may cause thanksgiving to increase to the glory of God.

Have you been thinking all along that we were defending ourselves to you? No, in the sight of God we are speaking in Christ, and everything, dear friends, is for building you up.

Let no one condemn you by delighting in ascetic practices and the worship of angels, claiming access to a visionary realm. Such people are inflated by empty notions of their unspiritual mind.

This is why I endure all things for the elect: so that they also may obtain salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

For if I want to boast, I wouldn’t be a fool, because I would be telling the truth. But I will spare you, so that no one can credit me with something beyond what he sees in me or hears from me,

But I will continue to do what I am doing, in order to deny an opportunity to those who want to be regarded as our equals in what they boast about.For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.And no wonder! For Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.So it is no great surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will be according to their works.

because our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with full assurance. You know how we lived among you for your benefit,

Look at what is obvious. If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, let him remind himself of this: Just as he belongs to Christ, so do we.

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that“ we all have knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

Do not trust in nobles, in a son of man, who cannot save.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the intelligence of the intelligent.

For whenever someone says,“ I belong to Paul,” and another,“ I belong to Apollos,” are you not acting like mere humans?What then is Apollos? What is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, and each has the role the Lord has given.I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.So, then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

what is a human being that you remember him, a son of man that you look after him?

We are not boasting beyond measure about other people’s labors. On the contrary, we have the hope that as your faith increases, our area of ministry will be greatly enlarged,

Now I do all this because of the gospel, so that I may share in the blessings.

For we don’t dare classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. But in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves to themselves, they lack understanding.

Now some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk, but the power of those who are arrogant.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, since it is written, He catches the wise in their craftiness;

Surely he knows which people are worthless. If he sees iniquity, will he not take note of it?But a stupid person will gain understanding as soon as a wild donkey is born a human!

This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the person who trusts in mankind. He makes human flesh his strength, and his heart turns from the LORD.He will be like a juniper in the Arabah; he cannot see when good comes but dwells in the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land where no one lives.

And you are arrogant! Shouldn’t you be filled with grief and remove from your congregation the one who did this?

So they came to John and told him,“ Rabbi, the one you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan, is baptizing— and everyone is going to him.”John responded,“ No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.

So let no one boast in human leaders, for everything is yours—

Put no more trust in a mere human, who has only the breath in his nostrils. What is he really worth?

For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven leavens the whole batch of dough?

in order that, as it is written: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.

“ But you are not to be called‘ Rabbi,’ because you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters.Do not call anyone on earth your father, because you have one Father, who is in heaven.You are not to be called instructors either, because you have one Instructor, the Messiah.

Joshua son of Nun, assistant to Moses since his youth, responded,“ Moses, my lord, stop them!”But Moses asked him,“ Are you jealous on my account? If only all the LORD’s people were prophets and the LORD would place his Spirit on them!”
