He came to a cave there, and camped there; and behold, Yahweh’s word came to him, and he said to him,“ What are you doing here, Elijah?”

There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him:“ What are you doing here, Elijah?”

He said,“ Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where did you come from? Where are you going?” She said,“ I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.”

Now what do you gain by going to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or why do you to go on the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?

Yahweh God called to the man, and said to him,“ Where are you?”

But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of Yahweh. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid its fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of Yahweh.But Yahweh sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty storm on the sea, so that the ship was likely to break up.

Yahweh also said,“ Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock.It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by;

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

of whom the world was not worthy— wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.
