耶和華諭摩西曰、屬以色列族之耆老、於其中簡七十人、必爾夙知其為民之長老族長、攜至會幕前、與爾偕立。

群奉表於亞達泄西王、其畧曰、百辣河西之臣民奏王、

耶戶戮耶斯烈地、亞哈家所有之眷屬、巨室、祭司、靡有孑遺。

撒馬利亞王亞哈有離宮、在耶斯烈、鄰拿泊之葡萄園。

詰朝大闢致書約押、付於烏利亞手。書曰、戰事孔亟之時、使烏利亞列於前茅、命眾悉退、留彼獨在、被擊而死。

正月十三日、王召繕寫、從哈曼所欲書之、詔依各州方言文字、鈐以國璽、普告臣工、方伯、民長、遣郵頒詔各州使於十二月、即亞達月、十三日、殺戮猶大人、取其貨財、凡旄倪妻子、毋俾遺種。詔行各州、布告億兆、屆期舉事。在書山城降詔、王命孔急、郵行迅速、王與哈曼飲宴、書山之民不樂。

亞哈有子七十人、居撒馬利亞。耶戶作書、致於耶斯烈之牧伯長老、寓居撒馬利亞、及訓迪亞哈眾子者。書曰、爾所轄者有車騎、城垣器械、爾主眾子居於爾中、書至之日、爾當簡王子之德容具備者、使踐王位、為國家而興戰鬥。當事者懼甚、曰、二王敵耶戶、尚為所敗、我焉能禦之。家宰、邑宰、長老、訓迪者、遣人告耶戶曰、任爾為所欲為、我不敢立王、願為爾臣、惟命是聽。耶戶復致書曰、如爾欲為我輔、聽從我命、則當斬眾王子之首、明日斯時、攜至耶斯烈見我。王子七十人、為邑之巨室所訓迪、常與之偕。書至、眾乃殺王子七十人、盛首於筐、遣使詣耶斯烈。

致書侮以色列族之上帝耶和華、訕之曰、列邦之上帝、不拯其國、脫於我手、故希西家之上帝、亦不能救其民脫於我手。

於爾上帝耶和華所錫之地、田畝間、遇見殺者之尸、不知誰殺、則爾之長老刑官、必於四周之邑、度其遠近、如有一邑甚近、邑之長老必取牝犢、未負軛工作者、攜犢至活水之谿、其地未嘗耕耘播種、則於谿中斫犢之頸、祭司利未人必適其所、蓋利未人為爾上帝耶和華所簡、以供服役、籲其名而祝告、凡諸爭競加害之事、為利未人定擬。甚近之邑、其長老、必於宰犢谿中盥濯其手、稱曰、此人非我所殺、其死非我所見、耶和華歟、爾贖以色列民、願赦其罪、勿以殺人之罪、歸之無辜、於是斯罪可赦。爾既行善於耶和華前、則殺人之罪不歸於爾。○

於爾上帝耶和華所賜爾諸邑、各支派中、當立刑官族長、使其秉公鞫民、毋反其正、毋偏視人、毋受賄賂、蓋賂使明者暗、以直為曲、
