故宜振作爾心、昭昭惺惺、凝神壹志、以望耶穌基督臨格時所攜之聖寵。

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled and put on the armor of faith and love, and a helmet of the hope of salvation.

Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,

But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the deadand into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trialsso that the proven character of your faith— more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire— may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.Though you have not seen him, you love him; though not seeing him now, you believe in him, and you rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy,because you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

But Christ was faithful as a Son over his household. And we are that household if we hold on to our confidence and the hope in which we boast.

So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.

Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love— but the greatest of these is love.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.

Let us walk with decency, as in the daytime: not in carousing and drunkenness; not in sexual impurity and promiscuity; not in quarreling and jealousy.
