以色列人看见耶和华向埃及人所行的大事，就敬畏耶和华，又信服他和他的仆人摩西。

于是，犹大和便雅悯众人，三日之内都聚集在耶路撒冷。那日正是九月二十日，众人都坐在神殿前的宽阔处；因这事，又因下大雨，就都战兢。

那时，他们才信了他的话，歌唱赞美他。等不多时，他们就忘了他的作为，不仰望他的指教，

若有人想要害他们，就有火从他们口中出来，烧灭仇敌。凡想要害他们的都必这样被杀。这二人有权柄，在他们传道的日子叫天闭塞不下雨；又有权柄叫水变为血，并且能随时随意用各样的灾殃攻击世界。

摩西向天伸杖，耶和华就打雷下雹，有火闪到地上；耶和华下雹在埃及地上。那时，雹与火搀杂，甚是厉害，自从埃及成国以来，遍地没有这样的。在埃及遍地，雹击打了田间所有的人和牲畜，并一切的菜蔬，又打坏田间一切的树木。
