「我後悔立掃羅為王，因為他離棄了我，不遵守我的命令。」撒母耳很難過，整夜呼求耶和華。

他脫下自己的衣服，在撒母耳面前說起預言來。他赤身躺了一天一夜。因此有句俗語說：「掃羅也在先知當中嗎？」

就後悔在地上造了人，心裡傷痛，

我已經多次告訴你們，現在又流著淚提醒你們：有許多人行事為人與基督的十字架為敵。

我淚流成河，因為人們不遵行你的律法。

我心裡極為憂愁，痛苦不止！為了我的弟兄——我的同胞以色列人，即使我自己被咒詛、與基督隔絕，我也願意！

我厭惡這些背棄你的人，因為他們不遵行你的話。

真希望我的頭是水泉，眼是淚泉，好為我被殺的同胞晝夜哭泣；真希望我在曠野有棲身之處，以便遠離我的同胞，因為他們是一群不忠不貞之徒。
