And he said,“ Do it a third time.” And they did it a third time.And the water ran around the altar and filled the trench also with water.And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said,“ O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

He said,‘ Let me go, for our clan holds a sacrifice in the city, and my brother has commanded me to be there. So now, if I have found favor in your eyes, let me get away and see my brothers.’ For this reason he has not come to the king’s table.”

There was peace also between Israel and the Amorites.Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.And he went on a circuit year by year to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah. And he judged Israel in all these places.Then he would return to Ramah, for his home was there, and there also he judged Israel. And he built there an altar to the Lord.

And the next day the people rose early and built there an altar and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
