Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown.So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air.

Timothy, my son, I am giving you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies previously made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the good fight,

The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little while.

But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled and put on the armor of faith and love, and a helmet of the hope of salvation.For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

They will be like warriors in battle trampling down the mud of the streets. They will fight because the LORD is with them, and they will put horsemen to shame.

And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful.

Remember, then, what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. If you are not alert, I will come like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come upon you.

For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh,since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish argumentsand every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.
