I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others.

I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.

Can faith save him?If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,and one of you says to them,“ Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love,

Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia:that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality.For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing,

but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head— Christ—

Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them.

So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain.

Now concerning virgins: I have no commandment from the Lord; yet I give judgment as one whom the Lord in His mercy has made trustworthy.

Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her.

for I know your willingness, about which I boast of you to the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has stirred up the majority.

Therefore show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf.

And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago;

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

“ Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!
