不過我派這些弟兄去，是為了我們在這方面對你們的誇耀不至於落空，好讓你們能照著我所說的準備好；

But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

我們於是勸提多，他怎樣開始了這恩惠之事，就當照樣在你們那裡把它完成；

關於為聖徒收集的事，我從前怎樣吩咐加拉太的各教會，你們也當照樣做：每週的頭一天，你們每個人如果充裕，就應當從中拿出一些積蓄起來，免得我來的時候才開始收集。等我來了，我會派你們所認可的那些人，帶著書信，把你們的惠贈送到耶路撒冷。但如果我也該去，他們就要與我一同去。

原來，即使我向提多誇耀過你們什麼，我也不至於蒙羞；其實就像我們對你們所講的一切都是真實的，照樣我們向提多所誇耀你們的也是真實的；

提多一方面接受了我們的鼓勵，另一方面自己更是殷勤，自願到你們那裡去。我們也打發了一位弟兄與他一起去。這位弟兄在福音工作上受到各教會的稱讚；不僅如此，他也被各教會選出，與我們一起帶著惠贈同行。我們這服事為的是主自己的榮耀，也為了表明我們的樂意之心。我們這樣謹慎，免得有人在我們所經手的這豐厚之事上挑剔我們，因為我們不僅要敬重主看為美善的事，也要敬重人看為美善的事。我們還打發了另一位弟兄和他們一起去。我們在很多事上多次驗證過這位弟兄是殷勤的，而現在他因為深深地信任你們，就更加殷勤了。論到提多，他是我的同伴，也是為著你們的同工。至於那兩位弟兄，他們是各教會的使者，是基督的榮耀。所以，你們要在各教會面前，向他們顯出你們愛心的憑證，以及我們所誇耀你們的憑據。

你提醒他們要服從統治者和掌權者，要順從，並要為一切美善的工作做好準備；

免得萬一有些馬其頓人和我一起來，發現你們並沒有預備好，我們就會因著對你們的確信而蒙羞，更不用說你們了。所以，我認為必須鼓勵這些弟兄先到你們那裡去，把你們已經許諾的惠贈提前安排好，這樣就表明你們所預備好的就是惠贈，而不是被強取的。
