萬國的王啊！誰敢不敬畏你呢？這是你應得的。因為在列國所有的智慧人中，以及在他們的全國裡，沒有可以跟你相比的。

流本人和迦得人啊，耶和華定了約旦河作我們和你們中間的疆界；你們與耶和華無分了。’這樣，你們的子孫就使我們的子孫不再敬畏耶和華了。

我要命定四種刑罰對付他們，就是刀劍殺戮，屍體被野狗拖走，被空中的飛鳥和地上的走獸吞吃與毀滅。”這是耶和華的宣告。

如果我使猛獸經過那地，蹂躪那地，使它荒涼，以致因為這些獸的緣故，沒有人敢經過；

主耶和華這樣說：“我打發刀劍、饑荒、猛獸和瘟疫這四樣可怕的刑罰臨到耶路撒冷，要把人和牲畜從那裡剪除的時候，那情況豈不更嚴重嗎？

於是從撒瑪利亞被擄來的祭司中，有一個回去，住在伯特利，教導他們怎樣敬畏耶和華。

他就去了；在路上有一隻獅子遇見了他，就把他咬死了。他的屍體被丟在路上，驢子站在屍體旁邊，獅子也站在屍體旁邊。

以利沙回頭看著他們，奉耶和華的名咒詛他們。於是有兩隻母熊從樹林裡走出來，撕裂了他們中間四十二個年輕人。

他就對那人說：“因為你不聽從耶和華的話，你一離開我，就必有獅子咬死你。”那人一離開他，果然遇見了獅子，把他咬死。
