Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him.“ Go away, baldy!” they chanted.“ Go away, baldy!”

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking up the path, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, chanting,“ Go up, baldy! Go up, baldy!”

Now he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the road, some young boys came out from the city and ridiculed him and said to him,“ Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!”

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him,“ Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!”

And he went up from thence unto Beth- el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young lads out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking up the path, some small boys came out of the city and harassed him, chanting,“ Go up, baldy! Go up, baldy!”

And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

原為愚陋之裔、爰被撻逐、離其故土、今我為其歌詞、作其話柄、憎我遠我、唾我面、而不自禁、蓋彼釋其繩索、加我以苦、脫其羈勒、在於我前、下流之輩、起於我右、推移我足、興築滅我之路、無與為伍之人、毀我之道、速我之禍、其來也、如由巨缺、在毀壞之間、軫轉於我身、威烈反擊我躬、驅逐我榮如風、我福如雲之逝、我魂頹敗、患難之日執我、夜間我骨被刺、痛楚齧我無已、因上帝之大力、我衣敝污、拘束我身、如領束項、彼擲我於泥中、我則如塵如灰、我籲爾、而爾弗聽、我起立、而爾注視、爾之於我、轉為殘酷、以手力迫我、舉我使乘狂風、消滅我於巨暴、我知爾必致我於死、入為羣生所定之室、然人顚仆、豈不伸手、遇災豈不呼援、人遭難、我豈非為之哭泣、人貧乏、我豈非為之憂心、我望福祉、而禍害至、我待光明、而幽暗來、中心煩擾不安、患難之日、臨及我身、我膚黧黑、非因日暴、立於會中、呼號求助、我與野犬為弟兄、與鴕鳥為伴侶、我膚既黑而脫、我骨因熱而焦、我琴成悲聲、我簫發哀響、

其往伯特利而干罪、至吉甲而增愆、每晨奉爾祭品、每三日而獻什一、

惟爾女巫之子、奸夫與妓之裔、其前而聽、爾戲謔誰乎、向誰張吻吐舌、爾曹豈非悖逆之子、詭詐之裔乎、

我罰以色列罪愆之日、亦必罰伯特利之壇、斫其壇角、俾墜於地、

故當心屏憂愁、身去邪惡、因稚齒與英年、悉屬虛空、

惟我遭難、彼眾歡聚、下流之輩、我不識者、集而攻我、裂之不已兮、

又有受戲玩、鞭扑、縲絏、囹圄之試、

噫、干罪之邦、負咎之民、作惡之輩、妄行之子、離棄耶和華、輕視以色列之聖者、疏而遠之、

孩童所為、或清或正、因之而顯、

爾曹遇此、乃伯特利所使、以爾罪重故也、以色列王、必於昧爽隕沒、

人民相虐、鄰里相殘、少凌長、卑侮尊、

爾毀殿、三日復建之、可自救也、爾若上帝子、則自十架下矣、祭司諸長、士子、長老、亦如是戲之曰、彼救他人、不能自救也、彼為以色列王、今自十架而下、我則信之、彼恃上帝、上帝果悅之、今可拯之、蓋彼曰、我乃上帝子也、

以色列歟、爾雖行淫、猶大不可干罪、勿至吉甲、勿往伯亞文、勿指維生之耶和華而誓、

勿尋伯特利、勿入吉甲、勿往別是巴、蓋吉甲必被虜掠、伯特利必為虛無、

昔依形軀而生者、窘逐依聖神而生者、今亦如是、

子取薪、父舉火、婦人摶麵為餅、而奉天后、灌酒於他神、以激我怒、

埃及婢夏甲、從亞伯拉罕所生之子戲謔之、撒拉見之、

孩童之心、包藏愚昧、懲之以杖、則除去之、

撒瑪利亞居民、將因伯亞文之犢而驚惶、庶民為之悲哀、素悅斯犢之祭司戰慄、以其榮去之也、
