又不惜上古之世、降洪水於不虔者、惟存宣義之挪亞八人、

先古之世、其俗澆漓、為上帝所責、災以洪水、惟傳道義之挪亞、暨其眷聚八人得救、

亦未惜先古之世、以洪水罰彼不虔敬之惡世、惟救傳義道之挪亞等八人、

古時人欲橫流、天主亦不惜使洪水氾濫、僅有宣揚道義之諾厄及同伴七人得濟。

if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;

God did not spare the world’s ungodly people long ago. He brought the flood on them. But Noah preached about the right way to live. God kept him safe. He also saved seven others.

if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

And God did not spare the ancient world— except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood.

故此，当时的世界被水淹没就消灭了。

挪亚因着信，既蒙神指示他未见的事，动了敬畏的心，预备了一只方舟，使他全家得救。因此就定了那世代的罪，自己也承受了那从信而来的义。

挪亚的日子怎样，人子的日子也要怎样。那时候的人又吃又喝，又娶又嫁，到挪亚进方舟的那日，洪水就来，把他们全都灭了。

他藉这灵曾去传道给那些在监狱里的灵听，就是那从前在挪亚预备方舟、神容忍等待的时候，不信从的人。当时进入方舟，藉着水得救的不多，只有八个人。

亚当的七世孙以诺曾预言这些人说：“看哪，主带着他的千万圣者降临，要在众人身上行审判，证实那一切不敬虔的人所妄行一切不敬虔的事，又证实不敬虔之罪人所说顶撞他的刚愎话。”

挪亚的日子怎样，人子降临也要怎样。当洪水以前的日子，人照常吃喝嫁娶，直到挪亚进方舟的那日；不知不觉洪水来了，把他们全都冲去。人子降临也要这样。

你要依从上古的道吗？这道是恶人所行的。他们未到死期，忽然除灭；根基毁坏，好像被江河冲去。

耶和华对挪亚说：“你和你的全家都要进入方舟；因为在这世代中，我见你在我面前是义人。凡洁净的畜类，你要带七公七母；不洁净的畜类，你要带一公一母；空中的飞鸟也要带七公七母，可以留种，活在全地上；因为再过七天，我要降雨在地上四十昼夜，把我所造的各种活物都从地上除灭。”挪亚就遵着耶和华所吩咐的行了。当洪水泛滥在地上的时候，挪亚整六百岁。挪亚就同他的妻和儿子儿妇都进入方舟，躲避洪水。洁净的畜类和不洁净的畜类，飞鸟并地上一切的昆虫，都是一对一对地，有公有母，到挪亚那里进入方舟，正如神所吩咐挪亚的。过了那七天，洪水泛滥在地上。当挪亚六百岁，二月十七日那一天，大渊的泉源都裂开了，天上的窗户也敞开了，四十昼夜降大雨在地上。正当那日，挪亚和他三个儿子闪、含、雅弗，并挪亚的妻子和三个儿妇，都进入方舟。他们和百兽，各从其类，一切牲畜，各从其类，爬在地上的昆虫，各从其类，一切禽鸟，各从其类，都进入方舟。凡有血肉、有气息的活物，都一对一对地到挪亚那里，进入方舟。凡有血肉进入方舟的，都是有公有母，正如神所吩咐挪亚的。耶和华就把他关在方舟里头。洪水泛滥在地上四十天，水往上涨，把方舟从地上漂起。水势浩大，在地上大大地往上涨，方舟在水面上漂来漂去。水势在地上极其浩大，天下的高山都淹没了。水势比山高过十五肘，山岭都淹没了。凡在地上有血肉的动物，就是飞鸟、牲畜、走兽，和爬在地上的昆虫，以及所有的人，都死了。凡在旱地上、鼻孔有气息的生灵都死了。凡地上各类的活物，连人带牲畜、昆虫，以及空中的飞鸟，都从地上除灭了，只留下挪亚和那些与他同在方舟里的。水势浩大，在地上共一百五十天。

当人在世上多起来、又生女儿的时候，神的儿子们看见人的女子美貌，就随意挑选，娶来为妻。耶和华说：“人既属乎血气，我的灵就不永远住在他里面；然而他的日子还可到一百二十年。”那时候有伟人在地上，后来神的儿子们和人的女子们交合生子；那就是上古英武有名的人。耶和华见人在地上罪恶很大，终日所思想的尽都是恶，耶和华就后悔造人在地上，心中忧伤。耶和华说：“我要将所造的人和走兽，并昆虫，以及空中的飞鸟，都从地上除灭，因为我造他们后悔了。”惟有挪亚在耶和华眼前蒙恩。
