大衛在曠野聽說拿八正在剪羊毛，

他又在曠野建造了一些瞭望樓，挖了許多貯水池，因為他在高原和平原上有很多牲畜；又因為他喜愛種植，所以在山地上和果園裡，雇有農夫和修剪葡萄樹的工人。

亞比該到了拿八那裡，他正在家中擺設筵席，好像帝王的筵席一樣。拿八心裡暢快，喝得爛醉如泥，所以無論大事小事亞比該都沒有告訴他，直到第二天早晨。

他宰殺了許多公牛、肥畜和羊，邀請了王所有的兒子、亞比亞他祭司和軍隊的元帥約押，卻沒有邀請王的僕人所羅門。

摩押王米沙是個以牧羊為生的人。他每年進貢十萬頭綿羊羔和十萬頭公羊羔給以色列王。

在瑪雲有一個人，他的產業在迦密。他是一個很富有的人，有綿羊三千隻，山羊一千隻，那時他正在迦密剪羊毛。

有一天，亞多尼雅在隱．羅結旁邊，瑣希列的磐石那裡，宰殺牛羊和肥畜，邀請他所有的兄弟，就是王的眾子和所有作王的臣僕的猶大人，來參加筵席。

現在我聽說有人為你剪羊毛。你的牧人與我們在一起的時候，我們都沒有侮辱他們；他們在迦密的日子，也從沒有遺失過甚麼。
