后来大卫打败并征服了非利士人，夺取了他们的都城。他又打败了摩押人，让他们并排躺在地上，然后用绳子去量，每两绳之内的人都要被杀掉，第三绳的人留下性命。从此，摩押人臣服于大卫，向他进贡。利合的儿子琐巴王哈大底谢出来要恢复他在幼发拉底河一带的势力，大卫打败了他，俘获一千七百名骑兵和两万名步兵，砍断拉战车的马匹的蹄筋，只留下够拉一百辆战车的马匹。大马士革的亚兰人前来支援琐巴王哈大底谢，大卫杀了他们两万二千人，还派军驻守亚兰国的大马士革，亚兰人臣服大卫，向他进贡。耶和华使大卫无往而不胜。大卫夺走哈大底谢侍从的金盾牌，带回耶路撒冷，又从哈大底谢统治的比他和比罗他两座城中夺走大量的铜。哈马王陀以听说大卫打败哈大底谢全军，就派儿子约兰带着许多金银铜器去朝见大卫王，向他请安，祝贺他打败了哈大底谢。因为陀以常常和哈大底谢交战。大卫王把这些器皿和他征服亚兰人、摩押人、亚扪人、非利士人、亚玛力人和利合的儿子琐巴王哈大底谢时所得的金银都分别出来，奉献给耶和华。

扫罗说：“你们去告诉大卫，就说王只需要一百个非利士人的包皮作聘礼，好向他的敌人报仇。”扫罗想让大卫死在非利士人的手上。

无论扫罗派大卫办什么事，他都表现出色。扫罗派他做军队的将领，民众和扫罗的臣仆都非常满意。大卫杀死了非利士人歌利亚，以色列人凯旋归来，妇女们击鼓弹琴、载歌载舞地从以色列各城出来迎接扫罗王。她们跳舞歌唱：“扫罗杀死千千，大卫杀死万万。”

那人说：“你赐给我作伴的女人摘了那树上的果子给我，我就吃了。”耶和华上帝对女人说：“你这做的是什么事？”女人说：“是蛇诱骗我，我才吃的。”

但如果你们心怀苦毒的嫉妒和自私的野心，就不要自夸说有智慧，也不要违背真理去撒谎。这种智慧并非来自天上，而是从世俗、私欲和魔鬼来的。哪里有嫉妒和自私的野心，哪里就会有混乱和各样的恶事。

他冒着生命危险去杀非利士人，耶和华使以色列人大获全胜，当时你看见了，非常欢喜，现在为什么要犯罪，枉杀无辜的大卫呢？”

于是，我吩咐他们摘下金耳环给我，我把这些金耳环丢进火里，这头牛犊就出来了。”

大卫就这样不用刀剑，只用投石器和一块石子战胜了那个非利士人，杀死了他。

大卫前往巴力·毗拉心，在那里打败了敌人。他说：“耶和华像洪水决堤一样为我冲垮了仇敌。”于是他称那地方为巴力·毗拉心。
