Then Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” And David said,“ To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to the Lord, so that the plague may be withdrawn from the people.”

亚劳拿问：“我主我王为什么来到你仆人这里呢？”大卫回答：“是要向你买这打禾场，好为耶和华筑一座祭坛，使民间的瘟疫可以止住。”

說：「我主我王到僕人這裡有什麼事？」大衛說：「我要買你的麥場，好在這裡為耶和華築一座壇，使百姓當中的瘟疫止住。」

亞勞拿問：“我主我王為甚麼來到你僕人這裡呢？”大衛回答：“是要向你買這打禾場，好為耶和華築一座祭壇，使民間的瘟疫可以止住。”

亞勞拿說：『我主我王為甚麼來到僕人這裏呢？』大衛說：『是要從你買這禾場，好為永恆主築座祭壇，使疫症可以被抑制住、不再流行於民間。』

亞勞拿問：「我主我王為什麼來到你僕人這裡呢？」大衛說：「是要向你買這打穀場，好為耶和華築一座祭壇，使瘟疫在百姓中間止住。」

曰、我主我王蒞臨僕所曷故、大衛曰、欲購禾場、為耶和華築壇、使疫止於民間、

曰我主我王、蒞臨僕所、曷故。大闢曰、欲購穀場、以築祭壇、奉事耶和華、使疫止於民間。

曰、我主我王、蒞臨僕所何故、大衛曰、欲購爾之禾場、為主建祭臺、使瘟疫止於民間、

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?”“ To buy your threshing floor,” David answered,“ so I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.”

Araunah said,“ King David, you are my master. Why have you come to see me?”“ To buy your threshing floor,” David answered.“ I want to build an altar there to honor the Lord. When I do, the plague on the people will be stopped.”

And Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said,“ To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be averted from the people.”

“ Why have you come, my lord the king?” Araunah asked. David replied,“ I have come to buy your threshing floor and to build an altar to the Lord there, so that he will stop the plague.”

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David replied,“ To buy the threshing floor from you in order to build an altar to the LORD, so the plague on the people may be halted.”

Then Araunah said,“ Why has my Lord the king come to his servant?” And David said,“ To buy the threshing floor from you, to build an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be withdrawn from the people.”

And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing- floor of thee, to build an altar unto Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David replied,“ To buy the threshing floor from you in order to build an altar to the Lord, so the plague on the people may be halted.”

And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David replied,“ To buy from you the threshing floor so I can build an altar for the LORD, so that the plague may be removed from the people.”

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said,“ To buy your threshing floor, to build an altar to Yahweh, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”

Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, And so the plague was brought to a halt.

And he spoke with them, saying,“ If you are willing to let me bury my dead out of my sight, listen to me, and plead with Ephron the son of Zohar for me,that he may give me the cave of Machpelah which he owns, which is at the end of his field; for the full price let him give it to me in your presence for a burial site.”Now Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham so that the sons of Heth heard, that is, all who entered the gate of his city, saying,“ No, my lord, listen to me; I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. In the presence of the sons of my people I give it to you; bury your dead.”And Abraham bowed before the people of the land.But he spoke to Ephron so that the people of the land heard, saying,“ If you will only please listen to me; I will give the price of the field, accept it from me so that I may bury my dead there.”Then Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,“ My lord, listen to me: a plot of land worth four hundred shekels of silver— what is that between me and you? So bury your dead.”Abraham listened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed out for Ephron the silver which he had named in the presence of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, currency acceptable to a merchant.

and the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Get away from among this congregation so that I may consume them instantly.” Then they fell on their faces.And Moses said to Aaron,“ Take your censer and put fire in it from the altar, and place incense on it; then bring it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone out from the Lord, the plague has begun!”Then Aaron took it just as Moses had spoken, and he ran into the midst of the assembly; and behold, the plague had begun among the people. So he put on the incense and made atonement for the people.And he took his stand between the dead and the living, so that the plague was brought to a halt.But those who died by the plague were 14,700 in number, besides those who died on account of Korah.Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance of the tent of meeting, for the plague had been brought to a halt.

So Gad came to David that day and said to him,“ Go up, erect an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

and he went after the man of Israel into the inner room of the tent and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman, through the abdomen. So the plague on the sons of Israel was brought to a halt.

But Joab said to the king,“ May the Lord your God add to the people a hundred times as many as they are, while the eyes of my lord the king can still see; but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?”

Then David said to Ornan,“ Give me the site of this threshing floor, so that I may build on it an altar to the Lord; you shall give it to me for the full price, so that the plague may be brought to a halt from the people.”

David said to the Gibeonites,“ What should I do for you? And how can I make amends, so that you will bless the inheritance of the Lord?”Then the Gibeonites said to him,“ For us it is not a matter of silver or gold with Saul or his house, nor is it for us to put anyone to death in Israel.” Nevertheless David said,“ I will do for you whatever you say.”So they said to the king,“ The man who destroyed us and who planned to eliminate us so that we would not exist within any border of Israel—let seven men from his sons be given to us, and we will hang them before the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of the Lord.” And the king said,“ I will give them.”But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath of the Lord which was between them, between David and Saul’s son Jonathan.So the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, Armoni and Mephibosheth whom she had borne to Saul, and the five sons of Merab the daughter of Saul, whom she had borne to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.Then he handed them over to the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before the Lord, so that the seven of them fell together; and they were put to death in the first days of harvest at the beginning of barley harvest.And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until it rained on them from the sky; and she allowed neither the birds of the sky to rest on them by day nor the wild animals by night.When it was reported to David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done,then David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh gilead, who had stolen them from the public square of Beth shan, where the Philistines had hanged them on the day the Philistines struck and killed Saul in Gilboa.He brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan, and they gathered the bones of those who had been hanged.Then they buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the grave of his father Kish; So they did everything that the king commanded, and after that God responded to prayer for the land.

And Jeremiah said,“ The word of the Lord came to me, saying,‘ Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle is coming to you, saying,“ Buy for yourself my field which is at Anathoth, for you have the right of redemption to buy it.” ’Then my uncle’s son Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guard in accordance with the word of the Lord and said to me,‘ Buy my field, please, that is at Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for you have the right of possession and the redemption is yours; buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.“ So I bought the field which was in Anathoth from Hanamel my uncle’s son, and I weighed out the silver for him, seventeen shekels of silver.And I signed and sealed the deed, and called in witnesses, and weighed out the silver on the scales.Then I took the deeds of purchase, both the sealed copy containing the terms and conditions and the open copy;and I gave the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of Hanamel my uncle’s son and in the sight of the witnesses who signed the deed of purchase, in the sight of all the Jews who were sitting in the courtyard of the guard.And I commanded Baruch in their sight, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Take these deeds, this sealed deed of purchase and this open deed, and put them in an earthenware jar, so that they may last a long time.”
