Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David replied,“ To buy from you the threshing floor so I can build an altar for the LORD, so that the plague may be removed from the people.”

說：「我主我王到僕人這裡有什麼事？」大衛說：「我要買你的麥場，好在這裡為耶和華築一座壇，使百姓當中的瘟疫止住。」

亞勞拿問：“我主我王為甚麼來到你僕人這裡呢？”大衛回答：“是要向你買這打禾場，好為耶和華築一座祭壇，使民間的瘟疫可以止住。”

亞勞拿說：『我主我王為甚麼來到僕人這裏呢？』大衛說：『是要從你買這禾場，好為永恆主築座祭壇，使疫症可以被抑制住、不再流行於民間。』

亞勞拿問：「我主我王為什麼來到你僕人這裡呢？」大衛說：「是要向你買這打穀場，好為耶和華築一座祭壇，使瘟疫在百姓中間止住。」

曰、我主我王蒞臨僕所曷故、大衛曰、欲購禾場、為耶和華築壇、使疫止於民間、

曰我主我王、蒞臨僕所、曷故。大闢曰、欲購穀場、以築祭壇、奉事耶和華、使疫止於民間。

曰、我主我王、蒞臨僕所何故、大衛曰、欲購爾之禾場、為主建祭臺、使瘟疫止於民間、

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?”“ To buy your threshing floor,” David answered,“ so I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.”

Araunah said,“ King David, you are my master. Why have you come to see me?”“ To buy your threshing floor,” David answered.“ I want to build an altar there to honor the Lord. When I do, the plague on the people will be stopped.”

And Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said,“ To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be averted from the people.”

“ Why have you come, my lord the king?” Araunah asked. David replied,“ I have come to buy your threshing floor and to build an altar to the Lord there, so that he will stop the plague.”

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David replied,“ To buy the threshing floor from you in order to build an altar to the LORD, so the plague on the people may be halted.”

Then Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” And David said,“ To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to the Lord, so that the plague may be withdrawn from the people.”

Then Araunah said,“ Why has my Lord the king come to his servant?” And David said,“ To buy the threshing floor from you, to build an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be withdrawn from the people.”

And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing- floor of thee, to build an altar unto Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David replied,“ To buy the threshing floor from you in order to build an altar to the Lord, so the plague on the people may be halted.”

And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

Araunah said,“ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said,“ To buy your threshing floor, to build an altar to Yahweh, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”

Phinehas took a stand and intervened, and the plague subsided.

Then he said to them,“ If you agree that I may bury my dead, then hear me out. Ask Ephron the son of Zoharif he will sell me the cave of Machpelah that belongs to him; it is at the end of his field. Let him sell it to me publicly for the full price, so that I may own it as a burial site.”( Now Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth.) Ephron the Hethite replied to Abraham in the hearing of the sons of Heth– before all who entered the gate of his city–“ No, my lord! Hear me out. I sell you both the field and the cave that is in it. In the presence of my people I sell it to you. Bury your dead.”Abraham bowed before the local peopleand said to Ephron in their hearing,“ Hear me, if you will. I pay to you the price of the field. Take it from me so that I may bury my dead there.”Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,“ Hear me, my lord. The land is worth 400 pieces of silver, but what is that between me and you? So bury your dead.”So Abraham agreed to Ephron’s price and weighed out for him the price that Ephron had quoted in the hearing of the sons of Heth– 400 pieces of silver, according to the standard measurement at the time.

The LORD spoke to Moses:“ Get away from this community, so that I can consume them in an instant!” But they threw themselves down with their faces to the ground.Then Moses said to Aaron,“ Take the censer, put burning coals from the altar in it, place incense on it, and go quickly into the assembly and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone out from the LORD– the plague has begun!”So Aaron did as Moses commanded and ran into the middle of the assembly, where the plague was just beginning among the people. So he placed incense on the coals and made atonement for the people.He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was stopped.Now 14,700 people died in the plague, in addition to those who died in the event with Korah.Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and the plague was stopped.

So Gad went to David that day and told him,“ Go up and build an altar for the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

and went after the Israelite man into the tent and thrust through the Israelite man and into the woman’s abdomen. So the plague was stopped from the Israelites.

Joab replied to the king,“ May the LORD your God make the army a hundred times larger right before the eyes of my lord the king! But why does my master the king want to do this?”

David said to Ornan,“ Sell me the threshing floor so I can build on it an altar for the LORD– I’ll pay top price– so that the plague may be removed from the people.”

David said to the Gibeonites,“ What can I do for you, and how can I make amends so that you will bless the LORD’s inheritance?”The Gibeonites said to him,“ We have no claim to silver or gold from Saul or from his family, nor would we be justified in putting to death anyone in Israel.” David asked,“ What then are you asking me to do for you?”They replied to the king,“ As for this man who exterminated us and who schemed against us so that we were destroyed and left without status throughout all the borders of Israel–let seven of his male descendants be turned over to us, and we will execute them before the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, who was the LORD’s chosen one.” The king replied,“ I will turn them over.”The king had mercy on Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, in light of the LORD’s oath that had been taken between David and Jonathan son of Saul.So the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Aiah’s daughter Rizpah whom she had born to Saul, and the five sons of Saul’s daughter Merab whom she had born to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.He turned them over to the Gibeonites, and they executed them on a hill before the LORD. The seven of them died together; they were put to death during harvest time– during the first days of the beginning of the barley harvest.Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest until the rain fell on them, she did not allow the birds of the air to feed on them by day, nor the wild animals by night.When David was told what Rizpah daughter of Aiah, Saul’s concubine, had done,he went and took the bones of Saul and of his son Jonathan from the leaders of Jabesh Gilead.( They had secretly taken them from the plaza at Beth Shan. It was there that Philistines publicly exposed their corpses after they had killed Saul at Gilboa.)David brought the bones of Saul and of Jonathan his son from there; they also gathered up the bones of those who had been executed.They buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the land of Benjamin at Zela in the grave of his father Kish. After they had done everything that the king had commanded, God responded to their prayers for the land.

So now, Jeremiah said,“ The LORD told me,‘ Hanamel, the son of your uncle Shallum, will come to you soon. He will say to you,“ Buy my field at Anathoth because you are entitled as my closest relative to buy it.”’Now it happened just as the LORD had said! My cousin Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guardhouse. He said to me,‘ Buy my field which is at Anathoth in the territory of the tribe of Benjamin. Buy it for yourself since you are entitled as my closest relative to take possession of it for yourself.’ When this happened, I recognized that the LORD had indeed spoken to me.So I bought the field at Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel. I weighed out seven ounces of silver and gave it to him to pay for it.I signed the deed of purchase, sealed it, and had some men serve as witnesses to the purchase. I weighed out the silver for him on a scale.There were two copies of the deed of purchase. One was sealed and contained the order of transfer and the conditions of purchase. The other was left unsealed.I took both copies of the deed of purchase and gave them to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah. I gave them to him in the presence of my cousin Hanamel, the witnesses who had signed the deed of purchase, and all the Judeans who were housed in the courtyard of the guardhouse.In the presence of all these people I instructed Baruch,‘ The LORD God of Israel who rules over all says,“ Take these documents, both the sealed copy of the deed of purchase and the unsealed copy. Put them in a clay jar so that they may be preserved for a long time to come.”’
