The king sang this lament for Abner:“ Should Abner have died as the lawless die?

King David sang a song of sadness over Abner. He said,“ Should Abner have died as sinful people do?

And the king lamented for Abner, saying,“ Should Abner die as a fool dies?

Then the king sang this funeral song for Abner:“ Should Abner have died as fools die?

and the king sang a lament for Abner: Should Abner die as a fool dies?

And the king sang a lament over Abner and said:“ Should Abner die as a fool dies?

And the king lamented for Abner, and said, Should Abner die as a fool dieth?

and the king sang a lament for Abner: Should Abner die as a fool dies?

And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?

The king chanted the following lament for Abner:“ Should Abner have died like a fool?

The king lamented for Abner, and said,“ Should Abner die as a fool dies?

But she said to him,“ No, my brother, do not violate me, for such a thing is not done in Israel; do not do this disgraceful sin!As for me, where could I get rid of my shame? And as for you, you will be like one of the fools in Israel. Now then, please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you.”

Then David sang this song of mourning over Saul and his son Jonathan,

Then Absalom commanded his servants, saying,“ See now, when Amnon’s heart is cheerful with wine, and I say to you,‘ Strike Amnon,’ then put him to death. Do not fear; have I not commanded you myself? As a partridge that hatches eggs which it has not laid, So is a person who makes a fortune, but unjustly; In the middle of his days it will abandon him, And in the end he will be a fool.”

Then Jeremiah chanted a song of mourning for Josiah. And all the male and female singers speak about Josiah in their songs of mourning to this day. And they made them an ordinance in Israel; behold, they are also written in the Lamentations.

And I will say to myself,“ You have many goods stored up for many years to come; relax, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself!” ’But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you; and as for all that you have prepared, who will own it now?’

Then I said to myself,“ As is the fate of the fool, it will also happen to me. Why then have I been extremely wise?” So I said to myself,“ This too is futility.”For there is no lasting remembrance of the wise, along with the fool, since in the coming days everything will soon be forgotten. And how the wise and the fool alike die!

A fool’s mouth is his ruin, And his lips are the snare of his soul.
