He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought tribute. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.

He stationed some soldiers in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus. The people of Aram were brought under his rule. They gave him the gifts he required them to bring him. The Lord helped David win his battles everywhere he went.

And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for[ there is] no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.

But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as[ with] a shield.

The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.They cried, but[ there was] none to save[ them: even] unto the LORD, but he answered them not.Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people;[ and] thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people[ whom] I have not known shall serve me.As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.The LORD liveth; and blessed[ be] my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

The horse[ is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety[ is] of the LORD.

Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that[ is] on the other side. But he told not his father.

And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: so it was a very great trembling.

Now then do[ it]: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

Blessed[ be] the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war,[ and] my fingers to fight:My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and[ he] in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And[ so] the Moabites became David’s servants,[ and] brought gifts.

And David[ was] then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines[ was] then[ in] Bethlehem.
