On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:“ Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.

我要使我父的应许临到你们身上，你们当在城里等候，直到得着从上面来的能力。”

我要请求父，他就会赐给你们另一位保惠师，使他跟你们永远在一起。

“我从父那里要差来给你们的保惠师，就是从父那里出来的真理的灵，他来到的时候，要为我作见证。

他既然被高举到神的右边，从父领受了所应许的圣灵，就把他浇灌下来，这就是你们所看见所听见的。

他这话是指着信他的人要接受圣灵说的；那时圣灵还没有降临，因为耶稣还没有得着荣耀。

但我要把实情告诉你们，我去是对你们有益的。如果我不去，保惠师就不会到你们这里来；我若去了，就会差他到你们这里来。他来了，就要在罪、在义、在审判各方面指证世人的罪。在罪方面，是因为他们不信我；在义方面，是因为我到父那里去，你们就再看不见我；在审判方面，是因为这世界的统治者已经受了审判。“我还有许多事要告诉你们，可是你们现在担当不了；只等真理的灵来了，他要引导你们进入一切真理。他不是凭着自己说话，而是把他听见的都说出来，并且要把将来的事告诉你们。他要荣耀我，因为他要把从我那里所领受的告诉你们。父所有的一切，都是我的；所以我说，他要把从我那里所领受的告诉你们。

但保惠师，就是父因我的名要差来的圣灵，他要把一切事教导你们，也要使你们想起我对你们所说过的一切话。我留下平安给你们，我把自己的平安赐给你们；我给你们的，不像世界所给的。你们心里不要难过，也不要恐惧。你们听见我对你们说过：‘我去，但还要回到你们这里来。’你们若爱我，就要喜乐，因为我到父那里去，又因为父是比我大的。

到了时候，圣灵必把当说的话教导你们。”

说了这话，就向他们吹一口气，说：“你们领受圣灵吧！

因为说话的不是你们，而是你们的父的灵，是他在你们里面说话。

你们虽然不好，尚且知道把好东西给自己的儿女，何况天父，岂不更把圣灵赐给求他的人吗？”

不是显现给所有的人看，而是给神预先拣选的见证人看，就是我们这些在他从死人中复活之后，与他一同吃喝的人。

他们欢喜到不敢相信，并且很惊奇。耶稣说：“你们这里有什么吃的没有？”他们就给了他一片烧鱼。他接过来，在他们面前吃了。
