For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

論到大衛、他在自己的世代中奉行了上帝的計畫、就長眠下去，放在他祖宗旁邊，見了敗壞；

就是說，大衛雖然在自己的世代，遵行了神的計劃之後就睡了，歸到他祖先那裡，並且經歷了腐朽，

夫大衛在其世、行上帝之旨、既寢、歸其列祖而朽壞、

蓋大闢生時、遵上帝旨、卒則與祖同朽、

蓋大衛在世時、遵天主旨而盡其職、其後乃逝、逝原文作寢歸於列祖而朽壞、

夫大維在世、既完成天主之旨、及其既逝、與列祖同塋、則已朽壞；

“ Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.

“ David carried out God’s purpose while he lived. Then he died. He was buried with his people. His body rotted away.

For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption,

This is not a reference to David, for after David had done the will of God in his own generation, he died and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed.

For David, after serving God’s purpose in his own generation, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and decayed,

For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, fell asleep, and was buried among his fathers and underwent decay;

“ For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;

For David, after serving his own generation in God’s plan, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and decayed.

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, died, was buried with his ancestors, and experienced decay,

For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, was laid with his fathers, and saw decay.

Brethren, I may say unto you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us unto this day.

And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he bare witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who shall do all my will.

And David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

Then David said, This is the house of Jehovah God, and this is the altar of burnt- offering for Israel.And David commanded to gather together the sojourners that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight;and cedar- trees without number: for the Sidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar- trees in abundance to David.And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for Jehovah must be exceeding magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for Jehovah, the God of Israel.And David said to Solomon his son, As for me, it was in my heart to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God.But the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days:he shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.Now, my son, Jehovah be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of Jehovah thy God, as he hath spoken concerning thee.Only Jehovah give thee discretion and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel; that so thou mayest keep the law of Jehovah thy God.Then shalt thou prosper, if thou observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; fear not, neither be dismayed.Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of Jehovah a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver, and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all men that are skilful in every manner of work:of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing, and Jehovah be with thee.David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,Is not Jehovah your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Jehovah, and before his people.Now set your heart and your soul to seek after Jehovah your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of Jehovah God, to bring the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of Jehovah.

That he should still live alway, That he should not see corruption.

And after my skin, even this body, is destroyed, Then without my flesh shall I see God;Whom I, even I, shall see, on my side, And mine eyes shall behold, and not as a stranger. My heart is consumed within me.

And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

They lie down alike in the dust, And the worm covereth them.

Jesus saith, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time the body decayeth; for he hath been dead four days.

And David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.

For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.

in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the house of Obed- edom with joy.And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, that they sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams.And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: and David had upon him an ephod of linen.Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with psalteries and harps.And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.

Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

and said unto them, Ye are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto the place that I have prepared for it.For because ye bare it not at the first, Jehovah our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not according to the ordinance.So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Jehovah, the God of Israel.And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of Jehovah.And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

From following the ewes that have their young he brought him, To be the shepherd of Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

And David said unto all the assembly of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and if it be of Jehovah our God, let us send abroad every where unto our brethren that are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us;and let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we sought not unto it in the days of Saul.And all the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

If I have said to corruption, Thou art my father; To the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister;

then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;

For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

And it shall come to pass, when thy days are fulfilled that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will set up thy seed after thee, who shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

They are appointed as a flock for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd: And the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; And their beauty shall be for Sheol to consume, That there be no habitation for it.

And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

In times past, even when Saul was king, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and Jehovah thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over my people Israel.

But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.
