保羅就站起來，擺着手說：『以色列人和敬畏上帝的人哪，請聽！

聽我的人有福啊！這等人天天在我門口仰望着，在我門框邊守候着。

在以哥念、二人同樣地進了猶太人的會堂，講得一大羣人都信了，不但有猶太人，也有希尼利人。但是不信的猶太人卻激起了又毒壞了外國人的心來害弟兄們。於是二人繼續住了好久，靠着主放膽講論；主為自己恩惠之道作見證，賜神迹奇事，藉着他們的手行了出來。城裏的民眾就分裂了，有的隨同着猶太人，有的隨同着使徒。

因此我充滿了永恆主的烈怒，我含忍得膩了。『我要向街上的孩童和聚在一處的青年團身上倒去了；他們連夫帶妻、年老的跟歲數滿足的必都被捉拿。

智慧在街市上呼喊，在廣場上發聲；在牆頂上喊叫，在城門口講訓言，說：『你們愚蠢人喜愛愚蠢，要到幾時呢？你們褻慢人喜歡褻慢，愚頑人恨惡知識，要到幾時呢？

因為人必逕愛自己、愛銀錢、矜誇、狂傲、毁謗、悖逆父母、忘恩負義、不虔聖、

虔誠人們收埋了司提反，為他捶胸大哭。

他是個敬虔人，他同全家都敬畏上帝；他對人民多行施捨，時常祈求上帝。

有敬虔的形式，卻背棄了敬虔的實質；這種人、你要躲開。
