自從創造天地以來，上帝永恆的大能和神性是明明可知的，雖然肉眼看不見，但透過受造之物就可以領悟，因而人類毫無藉口推說不知。

好叫其餘的百姓，就是凡歸在我名下的外族人都尋求主。』這是上帝說的，

還是你藐視祂深厚的慈愛、寬容和忍耐，不知道祂的慈愛是要引導你悔改嗎？

耶和華啊，你洞察我的內心，知道我的一切。我或坐下或起來，你都知道，你從遠處就知道我的心思意念。我或外出或躺臥，你都瞭解，你熟悉我的一切行為。耶和華啊，我話未出口，你已洞悉一切。你在我前後護衛著我，以大能的手保護我。這一切實在是太奇妙，太深奧了，我無法明白。我去哪裡可躲開你的靈？我跑到哪裡可避開你的面？我若升到天上，你在那裡；我若下到陰間，你也在那裡。縱使我乘著晨風飛到遙遠的海岸居住，就是在那裡，你的手必引導我，你大能的手必扶持我。我想，黑暗一定可以遮蔽我，讓我四圍變成黑夜。然而，即使黑暗也無法遮住你的視線。在你看來，黑夜亮如白晝，黑暗與光明無異。你創造了我，使我在母腹中成形。

諸天述說上帝的榮耀，穹蒼傳揚祂的作為。它們日復一日地訴說，夜復一夜地宣揚，無言無語，無聲無息。它們的聲音傳遍天下，它們的話語傳到地極。上帝在天上為太陽設立居所。太陽出來時，如步出洞房的新郎，又如歡然奔跑賽程的健兒。它滑過長空，從天這邊繞到天那邊，熱量廣及萬物。

「然而，上帝啊，你真的會住在人間嗎？看啊，諸天尚且不夠你居住，更何況我建造的這殿呢？
