阿波羅在哥林多的時候，保羅經過內陸地區，來到以弗所城，在那裡他遇見一些門徒，

原來保羅已經決定駛過以弗所城，免得在亞細亞省耽延時間，因為他急著趕路，如果有可能，但願五旬節那一天已經在耶路撒冷了。

照著神的旨意做基督耶穌使徒的保羅，致住在以弗所的聖徒，就是在基督耶穌裡的信徒們：

每逢安息日，保羅就在會堂裡講論，勸導猶太人和希臘人。

我往馬其頓省去的時候，曾經勸你繼續留在以弗所，好讓你吩咐某些人不可傳講別的教義，

說：「把你所看見的寫在書卷上，送到那七個教會：以弗所、士每拿、佩爾伽馬、錫亞蒂拉、薩迪斯、費拉德菲亞和勞迪西亞。」

「你要給那在以弗所教會的使者寫信說：「那位右手握著七顆星、在七座金燈臺中間行走的，這樣說：

我在以弗所與野獸搏鬥，如果按人的意思來說，對我有什麼好處呢？如果死人不會復活，就「讓我們吃吃喝喝吧，因為明天我們就要死了。」

所有住在以弗所的猶太人和希臘人，都知道了這件事，恐懼就臨到了他們每個人，主耶穌的名因此被尊為大。

我派特其庫斯到以弗所去了。

可是你們看見了也聽見了，這個保羅不僅在以弗所也幾乎在全亞細亞省，說服、引誘了一大群人，說『人手所造的不是神』。

保羅照習慣進了會堂，一連三個安息日，引用經文向他們講論，講解並說明基督必須受難，然後從死人中復活，並且說：「我傳給你們的這位耶穌，就是基督。」

向他們告別，說：「如果神願意，我會再回到你們這裡來。」就從以弗所起航了。
