奉神旨意，作基督耶稣使徒的保罗，写信给在以弗所的圣徒，就是在基督耶稣里有忠心的人。

我往马其顿去的时候，曾劝你仍住在以弗所，好嘱咐那几个人不可传异教，

“你所看见的当写在书上，达与以弗所、士每拿、别迦摩、推雅推喇、撒狄、非拉铁非、老底嘉那七个教会。”

“你要写信给以弗所教会的使者说，那右手拿着七星，在七个金灯台中间行走的，说：

我若当日像寻常人，在以弗所同野兽战斗，那于我有什么益处呢？若死人不复活，我们就吃吃喝喝吧！因为明天要死了。

凡住在以弗所的，无论是犹太人，是希腊人，都知道这事，也都惧怕；主耶稣的名从此就尊大了。

我已经打发推基古往以弗所去。

这保罗不但在以弗所，也几乎在亚细亚全地，引诱迷惑许多人，说：‘人手所做的，不是神。’这是你们所看见所听见的。

保罗照他素常的规矩进去，一连三个安息日，本着圣经与他们辩论，讲解陈明基督必须受害，从死里复活；又说：“我所传与你们的这位耶稣就是基督。”

就辞别他们，说：“神若许我，我还要回到你们这里”；于是开船离了以弗所。
