保羅說：「我此刻正站在凱撒的法庭上，這就是我應該受審的地方。你很清楚，我並沒有做過什麼對不起猶太人的事。如果我做錯了，犯了該死的罪，我決不逃避！但他們對我的指控毫無根據，誰也不能把我交給他們。我要向凱撒上訴！」非斯都和議會商討後，說：「你說要上訴凱撒，就去見凱撒吧！」

親愛的弟兄姊妹，不要私自報復，要讓上帝來審判，因為聖經上說：「主說，『伸冤在我，我必報應。』」所以，「你的仇敵若餓了，就給他吃的；若渴了，就給他喝的；你這樣做是把炭火堆在他頭上。」你不可被惡所勝，反要以善勝惡。
