Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.

族祖嫉若瑟、鬻之埃及、而天主偕之、

惟猶太人嫉之、招聚市井敗類、鼓譟全城、入雅孫宅、欲執葆樂、西拉以付之於民、

猶太人見而嫉之、詰難葆樂、謗讟天主、

何列邦之擾攘兮。何萬民之猖狂。世酋蠭起兮。跋扈飛揚。共圖背叛天主兮。反抗受命之王。曰吾儕豈長甘羈絆兮。盍解其縛而脫其繮。

方伯固知若輩之解送耶穌、純出嫉妒耳。

司祭諸長及法利塞人、乃召集會議、僉曰：『斯人多行異蹟、吾輩將何以處之？若聽其所為、則眾庶咸將信之、而羅馬人必至而奪吾土吾民矣。』其中有名蓋法者、值歲之總司祭也、告眾曰：『汝曹無知、

司祭諸長乃共謀所以兼滅賴柴魯、

世酋蠭起兮、跋扈飛揚。意圖背叛天主兮、反抗受命之王。」

若爾心中尚存忌刻好勝之意、則勿自誇為智、以欺真理。此之為智、非自上來、乃出自世俗、血氣與魔鬼耳。蓋一有忌刻好勝之心、則必啟爭端、而生紛亂、放僻邪侈、無不為已。

法利塞人因相語曰：『舉世風從、吾其休矣！』

獨有法利塞派之教徒起而言曰：『若輩必須受割禮、且告以遵守摩西律法。』

經云：『寓我心中之聖神、愛我情深、不容我別有所戀；』爾以此語為虛發乎。

二宗徒方佈道於眾、司祭司殿、撒杜責人忽至、以其教民、必引耶穌以證死者之復活、

是宜痛絕一切惡意、欺詐、虛偽忮心、譖謗、

迷惑異端、嫉妒殘殺、沉醉荒宴等類皆是。吾夙已言之、今復鄭重相告、凡行此等事者、必不得承受天主之國也。

大司祭亞納及蓋法若翰亞力山大與大司祭戚屬咸集、

葆樂察知會眾半為撒都責半為法利塞、乃揚聲而言曰：『兄弟！予乃法利塞人、亦法利塞人之子孫也！予今受審、乃以翹企死者復活。』作是語畢、法利塞人與撒杜責人遂起爭論、會眾析而為二；以撒杜責人言無復活、亦無天神與神靈、而法利塞人則言二者皆有；
