Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples[ unto them], and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

於是十二使徒召來全體門徒，說：「我們撇下神的話語，去管理飯食，是不妥當的。

十二徒召眾門徒曰、我儕遺上帝道、而几筵是役、非宜也、

十二使徒、呼眾門徒、曰、我儕不傳上帝道、而几筵是司、非所宜也、

十二使徒告眾門徒曰、我儕不傳天主道、而司几席非所宜也、

十二宗徒因召同人至、曰：『為几筵之事而曠傳道之職、非所宜也。

So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said,“ It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.

So the 12 apostles gathered all the believers together. They said,“ It wouldn’t be right for us to give up teaching God’s word. And we’d have to stop teaching to wait on tables.

And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said,“ It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables.

So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said,“ We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program.

The Twelve summoned the whole company of the disciples and said,“ It would not be right for us to give up preaching the word of God to wait on tables.

So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said,“ It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.

Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said,“ It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.

And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not fit that we should forsake the word of God, and serve tables.

Then the Twelve summoned the whole company of the disciples and said,“ It would not be right for us to give up preaching about God to handle financial matters.

So the twelve called the whole group of the disciples together and said,“ It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to wait on tables.

The twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said,“ It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of God and serve tables.

And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest[ is] not good.Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that[ is] with thee: for this thing[ is] too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place[ such] over them,[ to be] rulers of thousands,[ and] rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be,[ that] every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear[ the burden] with thee.If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee[ so], then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye[ are] this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.( The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye[ are], and bless you, as he hath promised you!)How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken[ is] good[ for us] to do.

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of[ this] life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I[ am] doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes[ laid] against him.

What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
