Crowds listened intently to Philip because they were eager to hear his message and see the miraculous signs he did.Many evil spirits were cast out, screaming as they left their victims. And many who had been paralyzed or lame were healed.

God gave Paul the power to perform unusual miracles.

Jesus replied,“ I did one miracle on the Sabbath, and you were amazed.

Then they remembered that God was their rock, that God Most High was their redeemer.But all they gave him was lip service; they lied to him with their tongues.Their hearts were not loyal to him. They did not keep his covenant.

When they realized he was the lame beggar they had seen so often at the Beautiful Gate, they were absolutely astounded!

You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God.

The following week almost the entire city turned out to hear them preach the word of the Lord.

Then many who heard him say these things believed in him.Jesus said to the people who believed in him,“ You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.And so it happened just as the Scriptures say:“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.

Then his people believed his promises. Then they sang his praise.Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done! They wouldn’t wait for his counsel!

These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.

Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him.But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew all about people.No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart.

The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation.

The Lord replied,“ Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.
