他們都看見了以色列的上帝，祂的腳下好像是一片藍寶石，像天一樣明淨。上帝沒有伸手殺這些以色列的首領，允許他們看見祂，在祂面前吃喝。

烏西雅王駕崩那年，我看見主坐在高高的寶座上，衣袍下垂，覆蓋了聖殿。在祂上方侍立著撒拉弗天使，他們各有三對翅膀：一對遮臉，一對遮腳，一對飛翔。他們彼此呼喊：「聖哉，聖哉，聖哉，萬軍之耶和華！祂的榮耀充滿大地。」他們的聲音震動聖殿的根基，聖殿裡煙雲彌漫。那時我說：「我有禍了！我要滅亡了！因為我口出不潔之言，又住在口出不潔之言的人群中，並且親眼看見了大君王——萬軍之耶和華。」

基甸發現他果然是耶和華的天使，便說：「唉！主耶和華啊，不好了，我面對面見了你的天使。」

但你不能看我的臉，因為凡看見的，都不能存活。

耶穌說：「那麼，為什麼大衛受聖靈感動，稱祂為主呢？大衛曾說，『主對我主說，你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵伏在你腳下。』

從來沒有人見過上帝，只有父懷中的獨一上帝把祂顯明出來。

耶和華的天使後來沒再向瑪挪亞和他妻子顯現，瑪挪亞才知道他是耶和華的天使。瑪挪亞對妻子說：「我們必死無疑，因為我們看見了上帝。」他妻子卻說：「如果耶和華要殺我們，祂就不會接受我們的燔祭和素祭了，也不會讓我們看見這些事並告訴我們這些話了。」

並且一定要說：「你僕人雅各就在後面。」雅各想先用禮物去化解以掃的怨恨，或許見面時以掃會善待他。

大衛自己曾經受聖靈的感動，說，『主對我主說，你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵伏在你腳下。』
