After he has arisen, his empire will be broken up and parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the power he exercised, because his empire will be uprooted and given to others.

於是公山羊極度高抬自己，但正在牠強盛的時候，大犄角卻被折斷了；在其原處有四隻顯眼的犄角向著天上四方的風長了起來。

但以理開口說：「我在夜間的異象中正在觀看，看哪，天上四方的風攪動大海！

「我正在注視這些犄角，看哪，有另一隻小犄角在它們中間長出來，先前的那些犄角中有三隻從牠面前被連根拔出！看哪，這犄角上有眼睛，好像人的眼睛，又有說大話的口！

人們往來行走，只是幻像；他們喧鬧，也是虛空；他們積聚，卻不知道誰會收取。

我恨惡自己一切的勞苦，就是我在日光之下的勞碌所為，因為我必把勞苦所得留給在我之後來的人。那人是智慧是愚笨，誰知道呢？他卻要掌管我勞苦所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧得來的。這也是虛空！

耶穌知道他們的想法，就對他們說：「任何一個國家，如果自相紛爭就成為荒蕪；任何一個城或家庭，如果自相紛爭就站立不住。

「可是神對他說：『你這愚妄的人哪！今夜，他們就要召回你的靈魂了。那麼，你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

我曾看到惡人的強橫，像本地青翠的樹那樣蔓延；但他很快就消逝了，看哪，他不復存在！雖然我尋找他，卻找不到。

「此後我繼續觀看，看哪，又有另一隻獸好像豹子！牠的背上有鳥的四個翅膀；這獸有四個頭，並且被賜予了權柄。

有一個人孤單無伴，連兒子和兄弟也沒有；但他各樣的勞苦卻沒有窮盡，他的眼目也不因財富而滿足；他問：「我如此勞苦，也不讓自己過好日子，到底是為了誰呢？」這也是虛空，是極重的擔子！

他們只是依靠財富、自誇多財的人。人實在不能救贖弟兄，也不能把他的贖價交給神，——因為靈魂的贖價昂貴，人只好永遠罷休——好使他永久存活，不看到陰坑。要知道，人必看見智慧人也會死；愚昧人和愚拙人一同滅亡，把他們的財富留給別人。他們以為自己的家必存到永遠，他們的住所必存到萬代；他們用自己的名字給土地命名。可是人在尊榮中不能持久，就像要滅亡的牲畜一樣。

直到我進了神的聖所，才明白他們的結局：你確實把他們放在易滑之地，使他們仆倒滅亡。他們怎麼在一瞬間就成了廢墟呢？他們被恐怖的事徹底掃除！人醒來時怎樣輕視夢，主啊，你醒起時，也會怎樣輕視夢幻般的他們！
