After he has arisen, his empire will be broken up and parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the power he exercised, because his empire will be uprooted and given to others.

但以理應時地說：『我夜裏異象中在觀看着，看見天上四面的風陡然颳起、吹在大海之上。

我正在觀賞這些角，忽見它們之間又長起另一個角來，是小小的；先前的角之中有三個在這小角之前連根都被拔出來；看哪，這角有眼像人的眼，有口說着誇大的話呢。

我甚麼時候論到一邦或一國說，要拔除，要拆毁，要毁滅，

人走來走去、簡直是影兒；悲哀歎息不過是虛幻；他積聚着財寶，不知誰來收取。

我恨惡我一切的勞碌、就是我在日光之下所勞碌的，因為我得來的必須留給我以後的人。那人會有智慧或是愚昧，誰能知道呢？他竟要掌管我勞碌所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧所勞碌得來的：這也是虛空。

耶穌知道他們的心思，就對他們說：『凡國自相紛爭，必至於荒涼；凡城或家自相紛爭，必站立不住。

如今永恆主這麼說：看吧，我所建立的我必傾覆；我所栽植的我必拔除；拔除全轄地。

但上帝卻對他說：「糊塗人哪，就在今天夜裏，你的財物就要要你的命了！你所豫備的、要歸誰呢？」

惡人的歡躍就是短暫，不拜上帝之人的喜樂只是眨眼間麼？他的高貴雖上達於天，他的頭雖頂到雲霄，他總必永遠滅亡，像自己的糞一樣；素來見過他的都說：「他在哪裏呢？」

我見過惡人強橫可怖，挺然高聳、像茂盛的香柏樹。我從那裏經過，啊，已經沒有了；我尋找他，卻找不着。

此後我觀看，就看見另有一隻獸像豹，背上有鳥翅膀四個；這獸有四個頭；又有權柄給了牠。

拋屍山谷全部、和倒灰之處、以及一切田園，直到汲淪谿谷，延到東邊馬門的拐角——都必歸永恆主為聖，永遠不再被拔毁，不再傾覆。』

有人孤單無二：沒有兒子也沒有弟兄，他的一切勞碌永無了結，他的眼目也從未以財富為足，以致他從未自問：我勞勞碌碌、薄於自奉，而不享樂，到底為的是誰？這也是虛空，是極喫力的勞苦。

那些倚仗資財、自誇財富多的人、一個也不能買贖自己，不能將贖價交給上帝，使他永久活着，不見冥坑；因為贖他性命的價值極貴，他只好永遠罷休，勿圖自贖。

等我來到上帝聖的所在，我才領會他們的結局。啊，你實在把他們安在滑地，使他們掉在完全荒廢的地步。一眨眼間他們怎樣地成了荒涼啊！他們全都被可怕的災難滅盡了。就像個夢，醒了以後、便歸無有；你起來，就看不到其影像。
