他醒悟过来，说：‘我父亲有那么多雇工，又有丰富的食物，我却要在这里饿死吗？我要起来，到我父亲那里去，对他说：爸爸，我得罪了天，也得罪了你，

这些事以后，那妇人，就是那个家庭的女主人的儿子病了。他的病情十分严重，以致呼吸都停止了。于是妇人对以利亚说：“神人哪，我跟你有什么关系呢？你竟到我这里来，使耶和华想起我的罪孽，杀死我的儿子。”

因此，他把他猛烈的怒气和惨酷的战争，倾倒在他身上；这在他四周如火烧起来，他还不知道；把他烧着了，他也不放在心上。

耶和华的怒气必不转消，直到他作成和实现他心中的计划。在末后的日子，你们就会完全明白这事。

他使你受苦，任你饥饿，把你和你的列祖不认识的吗哪赐给你吃，使你知道人活着，不是单靠食物，更要靠耶和华口里所出的一切话。

坚固门徒的心，劝他们恒守所信的道，又说：“我们进入神的国，必须经历许多苦难。”

你们一切都听见了，总而言之，应当敬畏神，谨守他的诫命，因为这是每一个人的本分。

现在你们也有忧愁；但我要再见你们，你们的心就会喜乐，你们的喜乐是没有人能够夺去的。到了那天，你们什么也不会问我了。我实实在在告诉你们，你们奉我的名无论向父求什么，他必定赐给你们。

你已经把我的悲哀变为舞蹈，把我的麻衣脱去，又给我穿上欢乐；好让我的灵（“灵”或译：“荣耀”或“肝”；与16:9，57:8，108:1同）歌颂你，永不停止。耶和华我的神啊！我要永远称赞你。

“我厌恶我的性命，我要尽情吐苦水，倾诉心中的痛苦。我要对神说：不要定我有罪，请告诉我你为什么与我相争。

到那日，主万军之耶和华叫人哭泣哀号，剃光头发，穿上麻布。看哪！人还是欢喜快乐，宰牛杀羊，吃肉喝酒，说：“我们吃喝吧！因为明天我们就要死了。”万军之耶和华亲自启示我说：“直到你们死的时候，这罪孽也不得赦免。”这是主万军之耶和华说的。

在被掳的地方，他们若是回心转意，在他们被掳去之地回转，向你祈求，说：‘我们犯了罪了；我们犯了过了，我们作了恶事。’

听啊！耶和华向这城呼叫，敬畏你的名就是智慧；支派和城里的会众啊！你们要听。

现在万军之耶和华这样说：“你们要反省自己的行为。你们撒的种多，收割的却少；你们吃，却吃不饱；你们喝，却喝不足；你们穿衣服，却穿不暖；得工钱的，却把工钱放在破袋里。”万军之耶和华这样说：“你们要反省自己的行为。

你们中间有人受苦吗？他就应该祷告。有人心情愉快吗？他就应该歌颂。

耶和华啊！你的手高举，他们还是看不见。愿他们因看见你对子民的热心而惭愧；愿那为你的敌人预备的火吞灭他们。

我受苦是对我有益的，为要使我学习你的律例。

耶和华啊！你所管教，用律法教导的人，是有福的。在患难的日子，你使他得享平安，直到为恶人所预备的坑挖好了。

‘我喜爱怜悯，不喜爱祭祀’，你们去想一想这话的意思吧。我来不是要召义人，而是要召罪人。”
