I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God will escape her, but the sinner she will ensnare.

A woman who hunts a man down is more painful than death. Her heart is like a trap. Her hands are like chains. A man who pleases God will try to get away from her. But she will trap a sinner.

And I find something more bitter than death: the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is taken by her.

淫婦之口、譬彼深坑、耶和華所痛疾者、必陷其中。

淫婦善媚、爾既守道、免為所惑、

婦婉言以誘之、媚詞以惑之。少年率爾相從、如牛犢就死地、如罪人受刑罰。如禽鳥罹網羅、迨刃入腎腸、乃知生命之亡。爾小子、宜聽我言、心毋邪僻、勿從其途。維彼淫婦、傷人孔多、殺人亦不少。凡進其室、必就死地、陷於陰府。

妓女猶深坑、淫婦若陷阱、隨在匿跡以誘人、使蹈罪愆。

大利拉見其吐露衷懷、則遣人請非利士人伯至、曰、今彼以心所藏盡告於我、請爾復至。非利士人之伯至、攜金於手。女使參孫寢於懷、招人薙其髮七綹、遂加困苦、其力果廢。女呼曰、參孫、非利士人攻爾。即寤曰、我必脫此如昔。而不知耶和華已遺棄之矣。非利士人遂執、而抉其目、解至迦薩、繫以銅索、使旋磨於獄。
