我看見了這一切，又專心查究在日光之下所發生的一切事。有這樣的一個時候：有人管轄別人，叫他受害。

我看到所有這些，就把心思放在日光之下發生的一切事上：有時人轄制人，自己卻反受其害。

此皆我所見者、專心詳察日下所作諸事、見操權者、有時使人受害、

我詳觀天下事、見有陷害同儔者、

凡此我嘗見之、我專心詳觀日下所作之事、有時人轄人、致人受害、有時人轄人致人受害或作有時人轄人致自受害

All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt.

I understood all these things. I used my mind to study everything that’s done on earth. A man sometimes makes life hard for others. But he ends up hurting himself.

All this I observed while applying my heart to all that is done under the sun, when man had power over man to his hurt.

I have thought deeply about all that goes on here under the sun, where people have the power to hurt each other.

All this I have seen, applying my mind to all the work that is done under the sun, at a time when one person has authority over another to his harm.

All this I have seen, and have applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun at a time when one person has exercised authority over another person to his detriment.

如果你在一省之中，看到窮人遭受欺壓，公正和公義被奪去，也不必因此驚訝，因為高位者之上有較高的照應，在他們之上還有更高的。

我看見日光之下有一令人痛心的憾事，就是財主積聚財富，反受其害。

我又看到日光之下有一件虛空的事。有人孤單無依，沒有兒子，沒有兄弟，仍勞碌不休，眼目也不以自己的財富為足。他問：“我勞勞碌碌，刻薄自己不去享受，是為誰呢？”這也是虛空，是勞苦的擔子。

有人告訴埃及王說：“以色列人逃走了。”法老和他的臣僕對以色列人的心就改變了，他們說：“我們讓以色列人離開，不再服事我們，我們作了甚麼事呢？”法老就預備他的馬車，帶著他的人民一同去，並且帶著六百輛特選的馬車和埃及所有的馬車，每輛馬車上都有馬車長。耶和華使埃及王法老的心剛硬，法老就追趕以色列人；因為以色列人是靠著耶和華高舉的手出來的。埃及人追趕他們，法老所有的馬匹、戰車和他的馬兵與軍隊，就在海邊，靠近比．哈希錄，對著巴力．洗分他們安營的地方追上了他們。

我看過日光之下所發生的一切事，不料，一切都是虛空，都是捕風。

但是希實本王西宏不肯讓我們從他那裡經過，因為耶和華我們的神使他的心意頑固，使他的心剛硬，為要把他交在你的手裡，像今日一樣。

不錯，你打敗了以東人，你的心就高傲。你儘管自己誇耀，安坐家中就是了。為甚麼要惹禍，使你覆亡，也使猶大跟你一起覆亡呢？”但是亞瑪謝不聽他的話。於是以色列王約阿施上來，和猶大王亞瑪謝在屬猶大的伯．示麥相見。猶大人被以色列人擊敗，各人逃回自己的家去了。

海水一回流，就淹沒了馬車、馬兵和那些跟著以色列人下海去的法老的全軍，連一個也沒有餘下。

他們又在西底家眼前殺了他的眾子，並且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎，然後用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。

我看神給予世人的擔子，是要他們為此煩惱。

我轉念，一心去了解、考察並尋覓智慧和事理，又要知道愚蒙是邪惡的，狂妄是愚昧的。
