The king’s edict granted the Jews in every city the right to assemble and protect themselves; to destroy, kill and annihilate the armed men of any nationality or province who might attack them and their women and children, and to plunder the property of their enemies.

The Jews in every city could now gather together and fight for their lives. The king’s order gave them that right. But suppose soldiers from any nation or territory attacked them, their women or children. Then the Jews could destroy, kill and wipe out those soldiers. They could also take the goods that belonged to their enemies.

恶人已经拔出刀剑，拉开了弓，要使困苦人和贫穷人倒下，要杀戮行为正直的人。但恶人的刀剑将刺入自己的心，他们的弓也将被打断。

犹太人在亚哈随鲁王各省的城市中聚集起来，为要下手对付那些图谋加害他们的人。没有人能在他们面前站立得住，因为各民族都惧怕他们。各省所有的首领，以及行政官、省长和办理王事务的人，都支持犹太人，因为他们惧怕末迪凯。末迪凯在王宫里为大，他的名声传遍各省；末迪凯这人日渐强大。犹太人用刀剑击杀了他们一切的仇敌，杀戮毁灭，任意对待那些恨他们的人。犹太人在苏萨城堡中击杀、消灭了五百人。他们也击杀了巴珊达塔、达乐分、阿斯帕塔、坡拉塔、阿达利雅、阿利达塔、帕玛示塔、阿利赛、阿利代、瓦业撒塔，就是哈米达塔的儿子犹太人的敌人哈曼的十个儿子，但没有下手掠夺财物。当天在苏萨城堡中被击杀的人数，呈到王的面前。王对王后以斯帖说：“犹太人在苏萨城堡中击杀、消灭了五百人，并哈曼的十个儿子；他们在王的其余各省中，又做了什么呢？现在无论你请求什么，都会赐予你；无论你还求什么，也会被成全。”以斯帖就说：“如果王认为好，就请王允许苏萨的犹太人明天也照着今天的法令去做，并且把哈曼的十个儿子挂在木架上。”王就下令如此做了。于是这法令在苏萨颁布，人们把哈曼的十个儿子挂了起来。亚达月十四日，苏萨的犹太人又聚集起来，在苏萨击杀了三百人，但没有下手掠夺财物。至于王各省中的其余犹太人，他们也都聚集起来，保护自己的性命，摆脱他们的仇敌，击杀了七万五千个恨他们的人，但没有下手掠夺财物；

将被毁灭的巴比伦城啊，照着你向我们所做的去报应你的，那人是蒙福的！

造诸天、大地、海洋和其中一切的那一位，他必持守信实，直到永远。他为那些受欺压的人伸冤，为那些饥饿的人赐下粮食；耶和华使被囚的人得解放；耶和华打开瞎眼之人的眼睛，耶和华扶起受压制的人，耶和华喜爱义人；耶和华保护寄居者，扶助孤儿和寡妇，却使恶人的道路弯曲。

我要派遣他去攻击一个不敬虔的国家，吩咐他去攻打我所恼怒的子民，掳财掠货，践踏他们，如同践踏街道上的泥土。

但愿义人欢喜，在神面前欢庆；愿他们喜乐欢欣。
