他不归荣耀给神，所以主的使者立刻击打他，他被虫咬，就断了气。神的道日渐兴旺，越发广传。

埃及人恶待我们，苦害我们，把苦工加在我们身上。于是我们向耶和华我们列祖的神呼求，耶和华听见了我们的声音，看见了我们所受的困苦、劳碌和压迫，

因为万军之耶和华的葡萄园就是以色列家，他喜悦的树就是犹大人；他期望的是公平，但看到的只是流血的事；他期望的是公义，听到的只是哀叫声。

希律死后，在埃及，主的使者在梦中向约瑟显现，说：“那些要杀害这孩子的人已经死了。起来，带着孩子和他母亲回以色列地去吧。”

耶和华的使者再对她说：“看哪，你已经怀了孕，你要生一个儿子；你要给他起名叫以实玛利，因为耶和华听见了你的苦情。

这都要在埃及地作万军之耶和华的记号和证据。埃及人因受人欺压向耶和华哀求的时候，他就差派一位拯救者和维护者到他们那里，他必拯救他们。

你看见我们的列祖在埃及所受的困苦，垂听他们在红海的哀求，

耶和华说：“你作了什么事呢？你弟弟的血有声音从地里向我呼叫。

耶和华在米甸对摩西说：“你要起程，回到埃及去，因为那些寻索你命的人都死了。”

你要当日给他工钱，不可等到日落，因为他贫穷，把心放在工钱上，免得他对你不满而呼求耶和华，你就有罪了。

耶和华对以色列人说：“我不是曾经拯救你们脱离埃及人、亚摩利人、亚扪人和非利士人吗？西顿人、亚玛力人、马云人也都压迫你们；你们向我哀求，我也拯救你们脱离他们的手。

神说：“我要除去你（“你”原文作“他”）肩头的重担，使你（“你”原文作“他”）的手放下筐子。你在患难中呼求，我就搭救你；我在打雷的密云中回答你，在米利巴的水边试验你。”（细拉）

耶和华说：“因为困苦人的冤屈和贫穷人的叹息，我现在要起来，把他们安置在他们渴望的稳妥之中。”

我们向耶和华呼求，他就听了我们的声音，派使者把我们从埃及领出来；现在我们就在你边界上的城加低斯。
