I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.

I spoke to their children there. I said,‘ Do not follow the rules your parents gave you. Do not obey their laws. Do not make yourselves“ unclean” by worshiping their gods.

“ And I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their rules, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

“ Then I warned their children not to follow in their parents’ footsteps, defiling themselves with their idols.

“‘ Then I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Don’t follow the statutes of your fathers, defile yourselves with their idols, or keep their ordinances.

“ Instead, I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers or keep their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.

“ But I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

“ Then I said to their children in the wilderness: Don’t follow the statutes of your fathers, defile yourselves with their idols, or keep their ordinances.

I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers. Don’t observe their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.

And I said unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God.

Your eyes have seen what Jehovah did because of Baal- peor; for all the men that followed Baal- peor, Jehovah thy God hath destroyed them from the midst of thee.But ye that did cleave unto Jehovah your God are alive every one of you this day.Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Jehovah my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the midst of the land whither ye go in to possess it.Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, that shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers;

Jehovah was sore displeased with your fathers.Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Return unto me, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts.Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets cried, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Return ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith Jehovah.

And I brought you into a plentiful land, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.

That the generation to come might know them, even the children that should be born; Who should arise and tell them to their children,That they might set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep his commandments,And might not be as their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that set not their heart aright, And whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.And your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your whoredoms, until your dead bodies be consumed in the wilderness.

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye.

And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

Woe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.So ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their tombs.

And Jehovah’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander to and fro in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of Jehovah, was consumed.And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’ stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel.For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye will destroy all this people.
