Dear friends, although I was eager to write you about the salvation we share, I found it necessary to write, appealing to you to contend for the faith that was delivered to the saints once for all.

But we did not give up and submit to these people for even a moment, so that the truth of the gospel would be preserved for you.

When James, Cephas, and John— those recognized as pillars— acknowledged the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

Barnabas wanted to take along John who was called Mark.But Paul insisted that they should not take along this man who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone on with them to the work.They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed off to Cyprus.
