彼等既見予所受聖寵之不虛、於是號稱教會柱石之雅各伯基法及若望、相率與予及巴拿巴殷勤握手、以表心契；我往外邦、而彼等則傳道於受割禮者。

又知道所赐给我的恩典，那称为教会柱石的雅各、矶法、约翰，就向我和巴拿巴用右手行相交之礼，叫我们往外邦人那里去，他们往受割礼的人那里去。

彼三人素有名譽、為教之柱石、知主賜我斯恩、故施其右手、交我及巴拿巴、使我往教異邦人、而彼往教受割者、

雅各磯法約翰、人所視為教之柱者、既知主賜我此恩、則施右手、交我及巴拿巴、使我與巴拿巴往教異邦人、而彼往教受割禮者、

James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.

James, Peter and John are respected as pillars in the church. They recognized the special grace given to me. So they shook my hand and the hand of Barnabas. They wanted to show they accepted us. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles. They would go to the Jews.

and when James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews.

When James, Cephas, and John— those recognized as pillars— acknowledged the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

吾憑所受聖寵、勸爾人人、切弗自估過高、務須各依天主所賦之信德平心自衡。

凡百折不撓、終克致勝者、吾當使其充任天主殿中之柱石而永不見擯於外且將以吾天主之名、與吾天主聖邑、即發自吾天主、由天而降者新耶路撒冷之名、以及我之新名、一并題諸其額。

蓋蒙天主啟示、乃有此行。至則將予所傳於外邦之福音、自陳於德高望重之同人；庶幾我前後之所奔走努力者、莫為徒勞。

吾人賴以蒙恩、忝列宗徒、期使萬民歸順正道、依崇聖名；

予亦語汝、汝乃磐石、予將建吾教會於斯石上、地獄之門、無以勝之。

惟伯鐸祿至安提阿時、有過、予曾面斥之。蓋有人來自雅各伯、當其未至伯鐸祿與外邦人同食；及其既至、彼乃逡巡引退、離群索居、惟恐受割禮者之誹己也。其餘猶太人、相率效尤、即巴拿巴亦被虛偽之風所靡。予見若輩之行、不遵福音正道、乃當眾而謂基法曰：『夫汝雖猶太人、起居飲食、猶且從眾、而不復拘泥於猶太俗矣。則又安得強外邦人從猶太俗乎？

今吾人亦已因基督、而合為一體矣。彼此皆屬肢體、相需而成；而所受之恩寵才賦、亦各有不同也。

邑有基址十二、上書羔羊十二宗徒之名。與予語者、手執金葦、以度其邑、其門、其垣。邑形四方、長闊相等：度以杖得四千里。其高度與長闊相等。度垣得一百四十四尺。天神之度、與人間之度一也。垣之質、碧玉也；邑為純金、而澄澈如琉璃、十二基址、各飾不同之寶石：一碧玉二青玉、三玉髓、四翡翠、五瑪瑙、六紅玉、七黃玉、八綠金剛、九淡黃玉、十綠玉、十一風信子石、十二紫玉瑛。

俾汝知曉任事於天主宅第中者、應如何修身砥行。天主宅第者、即永生天主之教會、而真道之柱石也。

言竟、雅各伯應曰：

各按所賦才能、互相效勞、庶無負天主多方授才之美意。蓋凡百才能、皆屬天主之付託；爾當忠心耿耿，無忝所受之惠也。凡任宣講者、當講述聖道、一若為天主之舌人者；其任服務者、則當依天主所賦之才力、儘量貢獻。總之、任作何事、務求以耶穌基督之名、歸榮天主。但願天主享受光榮與德能、永世靡暨、心焉祝之。

夫我乃諸聖中之至微者、竟亦蒙此殊恩、得在異邦人中弘宣基督不可思議之厚澤、

辯論既久、伯鐸祿乃起立而言曰：『兄弟乎！爾等固知天主夙選予於爾中、假予之口、使異邦人諦聽福音、因以起信。

宗徒長老與會、眾遂推選素孚眾望之巴撒巴樹德及西拉二人、偕葆樂巴拿巴同赴安提阿；並作書付之、書云：『充任宗徒長老之兄弟、敬候安提阿、敘利亞、基利嘉之異邦兄弟。近聞有人由此前來、以言擾爾、搖惑爾心、此輩實未受吾儕之命、因此同心合意推選同人、遣之與吾所敬愛之巴拿巴、葆樂、連袂訪爾。二君碧血丹忱、為吾主耶穌基督之名、而罔顧其生者也。是故吾儕特派樹德、西拉、俾為爾面述種切。當知聖神與吾曹咸不欲復以無謂之重負、加諸爾身、惟毋食祭餘之物、牲畜之血、與勒死之牲、且勿犯姦淫；無染於斯、則善甚矣。敬祝康泰。』葆樂一行奉使達安提阿、集眾授書、

彼等且再三懇求吾儕、准其同享賑濟聖徒之特恩；

此吾所為不辭勞苦一恃天主施於我躬之神力、而奮鬥者也。

吾人茲以所見所聞、傳之於爾、庶幾爾曹得與吾人神交心契、而吾人實已與聖父及其聖子耶穌基督神交心契矣。

有生於居比路之若瑟者、理未人也。宗徒稱之為巴拿巴、譯言「安慰之子、」

然吾人屹然不搖、未嘗於須臾之間、受其羈縻；此亦所以使福音之真傳、長存爾中、始終不渝耳。至於眾望所歸之同人、予亦未因其聲價之特殊、而另眼相看。夫人之貴賤、於天主乎何有？實則彼等於予亦未有所增；反之、彼等洞察予實受有傳福音於未割者之使命、適如伯鐸祿之傳福音於受割之人也。

此聖宅、以宗徒先知為基、而有耶穌基督親充隅石；

今我不揣冒昧、坦率作書者、第欲供爾等以備忘錄耳。且吾既蒙天主之恩寵、

吾之得有今日、皆賴天主之寵佑；惟予黽勉勞苦、視他人有過無不及、則未辜負天主之寵佑也。雖然、是亦天主寵佑而已、初非予之功也。
