Then God said,“ Let the land produce plants. Let them produce their own seeds. And let there be trees on the land that grow fruit with seeds in it. Let each kind of plant or tree have its own kind of seeds.” And that’s exactly what happened.

神说：“地要发生青草和结种子的菜蔬，并结果子的树木，各从其类，果子都包着核。”事就这样成了。

上帝说：“地要长出植物，就是含种子的五谷菜蔬，和会结果子、果子里有种子的树，在地上各从其类。”事就这样成了。

Then God said,“ Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.

And God said,“ Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so.

Then God said,“ Let the land sprout with vegetation— every sort of seed bearing plant, and trees that grow seed bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened.

Then God said,“ Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” And it was so.

Then God said,“ Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit according to their kind with seed in them”; and it was so.

Then God said,“ Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.

And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit- trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: and it was so.

Then God said,“ Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” And it was so.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed,[ and] the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed[ is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

God said,“ Let the land produce vegetation: plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” It was so.

God said,“ Let the earth yield grass, herbs yielding seeds, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with their seeds in it, on the earth;” and it was so.

Some land drinks the rain that falls on it. It produces a crop that is useful to those who farm the land. That land receives God’s blessing.

He covers the sky with clouds. He supplies the earth with rain. He makes grass grow on the hills.

Then God said,“ I am giving you every plant on the face of the whole earth that produces its own seeds. I am giving you every tree that has fruit with seeds in it. All of them will be given to you for food.

You take care of the land and water it. You make it able to grow many crops. You fill your streams with water. You do that to provide the people with grain. That’s what you have decided to do for the land.You water its rows. You smooth out its bumps. You soften it with showers. And you bless its crops.You bring the year to a close with huge crops. You provide more than enough food.The grass grows thick even in the desert. The hills are dressed with gladness.The meadows are covered with flocks and herds. The valleys are dressed with grain. They sing and shout for joy.

He makes grass grow for the cattle and plants for people to take care of. That’s how they get food from the earth.There is wine to make people glad. There is olive oil to make their skin glow. And there is bread to make them strong.The cedar trees of Lebanon belong to the Lord. He planted them and gave them plenty of water.There the birds make their nests. The stork has its home in the juniper trees.

All by itself the soil produces grain. First the stalk comes up. Then the head appears. Finally, the full grain appears in the head.

Food grows on the surface of the earth. But far below, the earth is changed as if by fire.

If that is how God dresses the wild grass, won’t he dress you even better? Your faith is so small! After all, the grass is here only today. Tomorrow it is thrown into the fire.

The Lord God made every kind of tree grow out of the ground. The trees were pleasing to look at. Their fruit was good to eat. There were two trees in the middle of the garden. One of them had fruit that let people live forever. The other had fruit that let people tell the difference between good and evil.

At that time, bushes had not yet appeared on the earth. Plants had not started to grow. The Lord God had not sent rain on the earth. And there was no one to farm the land.

“ A good tree doesn’t bear bad fruit. And a bad tree doesn’t bear good fruit.You can tell each tree by the kind of fruit it bears. People do not pick figs from thorns. And they don’t pick grapes from bushes.

They will be like a tree planted near water. It sends out its roots beside a stream. It is not afraid when heat comes. Its leaves are always green. It does not worry when there is no rain. It always bears fruit.”

My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree produce olives? Can a grapevine produce figs? Of course not. And a saltwater spring can’t produce fresh water either.

The ax is ready to cut the roots of the trees. All the trees that don’t produce good fruit will be cut down. They will be thrown into the fire.

You can tell each tree by its fruit. Do people pick grapes from bushes? Do they pick figs from thorns?In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit. But a bad tree bears bad fruit.A good tree can’t bear bad fruit. And a bad tree can’t bear good fruit.Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down. It is thrown into the fire.You can tell each tree by its fruit.

That kind of person is like a tree that is planted near a stream of water. It always bears its fruit at the right time. Its leaves don’t dry up. Everything godly people do turns out well.

The Lord God gave the man a command. He said,“ You may eat fruit from any tree in the garden.
