And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep[ forth].

The day[ is] thine, the night also[ is] thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day,[ and] the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts[ is] his name:

To him that made great lights: for his mercy[ endureth] for ever:The sun to rule by day: for his mercy[ endureth] for ever:The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy[ endureth] for ever.

He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.

Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these[ things], that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that[ he is] strong in power; not one faileth.

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.

The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days;[ and] caused the dayspring to know his place;That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?It is turned as clay[ to] the seal; and they stand as a garment.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

And in the day of the new moon[ it shall be] a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish.

Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say,[ It will be] fair weather: for the sky is red.And in the morning,[ It will be] foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O[ ye] hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not[ discern] the signs of the times?

They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all[ are] thy servants.

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but[ have] none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.[ There is] no speech nor language,[ where] their voice is not heard.Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,Which[ is] as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,[ and] rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.His going forth[ is] from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant[ be] not with day and night,[ and if] I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise?

Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.

But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
