He appointed the moon for seasons; The sun knows its going down.You make darkness, and it is night, In which all the beasts of the forest creep about.

The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.You have set all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light!

Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar( The Lord of hosts is His name):

To Him who made great lights, For His mercy endures forever—The sun to rule by day, For His mercy endures forever;The moon and stars to rule by night, For His mercy endures forever.

He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away.

Thus says the Lord:“ Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.

The sun and moon will grow dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness.

Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing.

“ While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”

“ And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.

When I put out your light, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give her light.All the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you, And bring darkness upon your land,” Says the Lord God.

“ Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion?Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?

“ Thus says the Lord:‘ If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season,

Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

On the day of the New Moon it shall be a young bull without blemish, six lambs, and a ram; they shall be without blemish.

saying,“ Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ The gateway of the inner court that faces toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath it shall be opened, and on the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.

He answered and said to them,“ When it is evening you say,‘ It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’;and in the morning,‘ It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

They continue this day according to Your ordinances, For all are Your servants.

“ And it shall come to pass in that day,” says the Lord GOD,“ That I will make the sun go down at noon, And I will darken the earth in broad daylight;

May the stars of its morning be dark; May it look for light, but have none, And not see the dawning of the day;

“ Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.

I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.

And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.

Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

“ Thus says the Lord:‘ If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth,

Is there any number to His armies? Upon whom does His light not rise?

If even the moon does not shine, And the stars are not pure in His sight,

“ But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
