Zechariah 5:1-4
I looked up again and saw a flying scroll.“ What do you see?” he asked me.“ I see a flying scroll,” I replied,“ thirty feet long and fifteen feet wide.”Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for everyone who is a thief, contrary to what is written on one side, has gone unpunished, and everyone who swears falsely, contrary to what is written on the other side, has gone unpunished.I will send it out,”— this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies—“ and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by my name. It will stay inside his house and destroy it along with its timbers and stones.”

Gehazi, the attendant of Elisha the man of God, thought,“ My master has let this Aramean Naaman off lightly by not accepting from him what he brought. As the LORD lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”So Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw someone running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him and asked,“ Is everything all right?”Gehazi said,“ It’s all right. My master has sent me to say,‘ I have just now discovered that two young men from the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them seventy-five pounds of silver and two sets of clothing.’”But Naaman insisted,“ Please, accept one hundred fifty pounds.” He urged Gehazi and then packed one hundred fifty pounds of silver in two bags with two sets of clothing. Naaman gave them to two of his attendants who carried them ahead of Gehazi.When Gehazi came to the hill, he took the gifts from them and deposited them in the house. Then he dismissed the men, and they left.Gehazi came and stood by his master.“ Where did you go, Gehazi?” Elisha asked him. He replied,“ Your servant didn’t go anywhere.”“ And my heart didn’t go when the man got down from his chariot to meet you,” Elisha said.“ Is this a time to accept silver and clothing, olive orchards and vineyards, flocks and herds, and male and female slaves?Therefore, Naaman’s skin disease will cling to you and your descendants forever.” So Gehazi went out from his presence diseased, resembling snow.

Joshua 7:21-26
When I saw among the spoils a beautiful cloak from Babylon, five pounds of silver, and a bar of gold weighing a pound and a quarter, I coveted them and took them. You can see for yourself. They are concealed in the ground inside my tent, with the silver under the cloak.”So Joshua sent messengers who ran to the tent, and there was the cloak, concealed in his tent, with the silver underneath.They took the things from inside the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites, and spread them out in the LORD’s presence.Then Joshua and all Israel with him took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the cloak, and the bar of gold, his sons and daughters, his ox, donkey, and sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and brought them up to the Valley of Achor.Joshua said,“ Why have you brought us trouble? Today the LORD will bring you trouble!” So all Israel stoned them to death. They burned their bodies, threw stones on them,and raised over him a large pile of rocks that remains still today. Then the LORD turned from his burning anger. Therefore that place is called the Valley of Achor still today.

Genesis 19:26-38
But Lot’s wife looked back and became a pillar of salt.Early in the morning Abraham went to the place where he had stood before the LORD.He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land of the plain, and he saw that smoke was going up from the land like the smoke of a furnace.So it was, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham and brought Lot out of the middle of the upheaval when he demolished the cities where Lot had lived.Lot departed from Zoar and lived in the mountains along with his two daughters, because he was afraid to live in Zoar. Instead, he and his two daughters lived in a cave.Then the firstborn said to the younger,“ Our father is old, and there is no man in the land to sleep with us as is the custom of all the land.Come, let’s get our father to drink wine so that we can sleep with him and preserve our father’s line.”So they got their father to drink wine that night, and the firstborn came and slept with her father; he did not know when she lay down or when she got up.The next day the firstborn said to the younger,“ Look, I slept with my father last night. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight so you can go sleep with him and we can preserve our father’s line.”That night they again got their father to drink wine, and the younger went and slept with him; he did not know when she lay down or when she got up.So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.The firstborn gave birth to a son and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites of today.The younger also gave birth to a son, and she named him Ben-ammi. He is the father of the Ammonites of today.

Deuteronomy 7:25-26
Burn up the carved images of their gods. Don’t covet the silver and gold on the images and take it for yourself, or else you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the LORD your God.Do not bring any detestable thing into your house, or you will be set apart for destruction like it. You are to abhor and detest it utterly because it is set apart for destruction.

I will never be a widow or know the loss of children.’These two things will happen to you suddenly, in one day: loss of children and widowhood. Genesis 13:10-13
Lot looked out and saw that the entire plain of the Jordan as far as Zoar was well watered everywhere like the LORD’s garden and the land of Egypt.( This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)So Lot chose the entire plain of the Jordan for himself. Then Lot journeyed eastward, and they separated from each other.Abram lived in the land of Canaan, but Lot lived in the cities on the plain and set up his tent near Sodom.( Now the men of Sodom were evil, sinning immensely against the LORD.)

He had said,“ I will not give you my ancestors’ inheritance.” He lay down on his bed, turned his face away, and didn’t eat any food.

Didn’t your father eat and drink and administer justice and righteousness? Then it went well with him.He took up the case of the poor and needy; then it went well. Is this not what it means to know me? This is the LORD’s declaration.But you have eyes and a heart for nothing except your own dishonest profit, shedding innocent blood and committing extortion and oppression.Therefore, this is what the LORD says concerning Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: They will not mourn for him, saying,“ Woe, my brother!” or“ Woe, my sister!” They will not mourn for him, saying,“ Woe, lord! Woe, his majesty!”He will be buried like a donkey, dragged off and thrown outside Jerusalem’s gates.

Terrors come over him.Total darkness is reserved for his treasures. A fire unfanned by human hands will consume him; it will feed on what is left in his tent.The heavens will expose his iniquity, and the earth will rise up against him.The possessions in his house will be removed, flowing away on the day of God’s anger.
