正如经上所记：“我已经指派你为众多民族的父。”亚伯拉罕所信的那一位，就是叫死人得生命、使无变为有的神。亚伯拉罕在没有盼望的时候，仍然怀着盼望去相信，因而成为众多民族的父，正如先前所说：“你的后裔将要如此众多。”他快到一百岁的时候，想到自己的身体如同已经死了，又想到撒拉也已经不能生育，但是他的信仰却没有软弱。他也没有因着不信去怀疑神的应许，反而因着信得以刚强，把荣耀归给神，并且确信不疑：神所应许的，神也能成就。

到了第三天，亚伯拉罕举目，从远处看见了那地方。亚伯拉罕对他的仆人们说：“你们和驴子留在这里吧，我和这少年要到那里去敬拜，然后再回到你们这里来。”

耶稣进了屋子，那两个瞎眼的来到他面前。耶稣问他们：“你们相信我能做这件事吗？”他们回答说：“主啊，是的，我们信。”

亚伯拉罕举目观看，看哪，身后有一只公绵羊，犄角被灌木丛缠住了！亚伯拉罕就走过去，取了那只公绵羊，代替自己的儿子献为燔祭。

神能照着在我们里面做工的大能，成就那远超过我们所求所想的一切事——

同样因着信，不能生育的撒拉，自己虽然过了年龄，还是领受了怀孕生子的能力，原来她认为向她应许的那一位是信实的。所以从一个如同已经死了的人，就生出了许多人，像天空的星那样众多，像海边的沙那样无法数算。

因为基督不是进入了人手所造的圣所——那不过是真圣所的象征——而是进入了上天本身，如今替我们显现在神的面前。

然而，从亚当到摩西，死亡掌了权，甚至那些没有按亚当过犯的样式犯罪的人，也在死的权下。这亚当是以后要来的那一位的象征。
